Visa run?
So I've been in Dubai since June 17th. I came in on a visit visa to visit my husband, and we (being newlyweds) decided that I should just stay since I was no closer to finding a job in the States than I was the day I got laid off over a year ago. In July, we paid 700AED to extend my visit visa at DNRD. Went back in August and were told that it could only be extended once and that I should go to Oman to get a new one. So we did that in August, and again in September. The Omani official I dealt with in September seemed a little hesitant to stamp my passport when she saw that it was the second time I'd made a visa run, but she did it. The UAE official barely even looked at me or my passport.
In the midst of all this, we've been waiting for the Department of State to authenticate our marriage certificate so that we can have it attested by the UAE embassy in the States in order for my husband to sponsor me. It's been over 10 weeks, and it is still at the Department of State and they won't tell me when it will be returned. I was finally offered a job yesterday, and so my employer will be sponsoring me but obviously that will take a while and I don't want to be here illegally for any length of time.
My current visa expires on Sunday and we're planning a visa run, but I'm concerned that I may run into trouble and not be allowed back in the UAE. Has anyone ever done a visa run more than twice? Do you think I can get away with it? My husband thinks I'm being a bit too paranoid, but I guess my mindset is still very "American" and I know you could never pull this off in the States. If any of you have any insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated!
