My mums here to help me with my LO for a couple of months and we have been told by my husbands PRO that her 30day visit visa is 'Unofficially' extended to 40 days.

Has anyone waited the extra 10 days?

It would save us a trip to Hatta & she only needs an extra 9 days but we dont want to pay the 1000dhs

visit visas have been for 30 days for a long time now, a few years, it used to be 60 days... i have not over stayed for the 10 day grace period, but i did call the airport i looked online and i called immigration (multiple times to speak to different people to see if i got the same answer) and EVERYONE official i have spoke to on this has assured me there is no issue and there is in fact a 10 day grace period... that being said... who knows its the middle east... and i think they have different rules for different nationalities. even if they dont aknowledge the 10 day grace period when you arive at the airport its not like they are going to arrest you they will just fine you... i have been told 100 aed a day, so for 2 ppl overstaying 5 days is 1000 aed... i mean its not cheap or ideal to pay but its also not going to break the bank... i would say they would be fine... or just do a quick visa run to oman if your that paranoid about it... its very easy and about 4 hrs round trip... it will cost you 400 ead total for 2 ppl saving you about 600 aed IF you were to be charged at the airport.

My mum is in a panic over this. My parents come every Christmas for around a month. Because the airlines charge so much extra between certain dates, they are booked this year for 35 days. I cannot get anyone to give me a straight answer about what to do. Why did they change the rules and when did the 30 day thing come in anyway? They were just over 30 days last year too.
