Does Anyone keep their washing machine outside if you have a dishwasher in the kitchen space? If so, how does it connect and is it fine during the summer?

Not only would it be a fire-risk waiting to happen but so unsightly too! Wouldn't like to be a neighbour or apartment across the road looking at your washing machine. True, not to mention the noise! Would hate to be the neighbor trying to sunbathe on the balcony below ... LMAO !! couldn't fit a deckchair out there and it was lower than the wall so if there had been any one opposite (which there wasn't as it was in the middle of nowhere!!) it wasn't visible.. It was plugged into the socket on the balcony... but am beginning to wish I hadn't bothered answering the question now.... edited by Molly Coddle on 24/01/2013

Not an electrician, but wouldn't rain short out the washing machine? All I can think of is all those fires ... probably started by hair-brained ideas like this! Do you really need a dishwasher if you're apartment is so small? it was sheltered from the elements which is why I said it wasn't like a proper balcony but you could keep the machine covered when not in use... (and if it's raining I doubt you'd be doing your washing anyway !! lol) How was it connected and hooked up?

Do you really need a dishwasher if you're apartment is so small? The rain that comes once a year? And you can run a dishwasher every few days when it fills up, it's to save water more than the convenience of it.

we did - was fine for the year or so my husband lived in the apartment and the machine is still going strong now..our balcony wasn't a proper one though - just a small space the width of the kitchen and not completely open - had an ornamental criss-crossy concrete partition up from the waist high wall.. we just made sure we hoovered it regularly....
