Hey - I want to send a present back to the UK: a piece of jewellery for a friends birthday. I have heard that Aramex can hold things in UK customs for up to a few days and then give a huge invoice on certain items. Resulting in the delivery costing more than the gift itself. Is jewellery one does anyone know?

Thanks in advance

u need to provide a profoma invoice with a description of the items on it. also you need to provide a copy of your passport for aramex, because of the whole printer cartridge bomb thing with Fedex that time.

Dont they just charge that if u buy direct from a shop? ive never paid it on stuff and if its expensive i wrap it up and mark it as a present on the invoice.

Do you think they would charge import duty for GBP100 value? Yeah I'm trying to find someone to take it back. But I think I will end up having to send it.

It is the UK customs that delay things and over a certain amount your friend would have to pay import duty. Don't you know anyone flying back who could take it and then send it by registered post from the UK?
