Would suggest you remove email addresses as spammers troll sites like these - also suggest you don't give info like the names of this garage as technically they are breaking the law and could face some difficulties.

If you do need a police report, fairly painless to get one for this type of thing. Had to do it recently when my daughter backed into a concrete pillar in my car. This was in Dubai Mall and police have an office there so really easy but otherwise a quick trip to a police station should do it. The form we got was not pink but white - assume because no other party involved. Do look around for quotations though - we had variations from AED2500 down to AED600 - all from garages in Al Quoz and make sure you bargain with them!!

people here really are thoughtless sometimes. DH's back windshield got smashed yesterday evening. He was parked in JLT showing an apartment and he came back to a bottle smashed through the back window :( maybe thrown off a balcony or something, today he had to put off all of his appointments to go get it fixed poor guy hardly slept last night as he was so stressed.

I pulled the bottom bumper off my car on one of those stupid concrete separaters they have in the car parks in the malls. Police report would of been pink so i took it to the dealer who quoted 7000AED!!! rip off so i went to a garage in Al Quoz ( no police report) and 500AED to fix it back on. When i had my car serviced at the dealer the service guy was impressed with the work and said it was as good as the dealer. Not all garages as for police reports.. You just have to know where to go ;)

How bad is the damage? if it's only minor some garages will fix for you.

OK and how do I get such a report ? I guess you have reversed a pillar in your own garage ;) ... edited by kikidubai on 26/09/2011

You won't be able to get it repaired without a police report unfortunately. Even if you do something stupid here, like reverse into a pillar in your own garage (don't ask!), no repair shop will touch the car without a police report.

Hi That's awful, but not suprised. I have seen alot of unethical drivers around. I check my car, but wouldn't be suprised if I came back & found one too. You see loads driving round who just keep the dents. Not sure on how much repairs are around here either - hope its not as dear as everything else! Good luck x

this happened to me in the UK this summer and I sympathise - my mum had leant me her car for the summer and I came back to the carpark to find a huge dent in the side where some idiot had driven into it - both doors dented! Fortunately the marks polished out and mum said not to worry having it fixed but the dent is really obvious. I felt so bad even though it wasn't my fault.

well usually I don't really care but this is a huge bump this time. I cannot leave it like this and need to have it repaired :( I guess there is nothing much to do as you said... I'm so sorry - it's bl**dy infuriating.

Unfortunately they just do. There is no real etiquette for driving over here so I have resigned myself to having scratches and dents all over my car. Unless you know which car did it or have concrete proof (any car park cameras etc) I'm afraid you may just have to acceopt it and move on
