Hi all, I'm wondering what there is to see or do around Al Mamzar, other than the beach park?

Any shopping, movie theatre, nightlife nearby? Anything fun to do? What malls are close distance?

Thank you for your help!

Yes Cherpie, the apartment is furnished, he'll just have to decorate it to his liking. I personally love Sahara Mall. When I was last there they were not finished yet with the extension, but my daughter and I ate at Paul's, and it was lovely! I think my son will be happy with his accommodations.

Oh and I'm probably going to get shot down as rude/snobby but I'm just putting it out there, century mall may be called "mall" but it's not really a social place, it's like get stuff and get out. There aren't any cool shops, just budget stuff and the food options...well, no. I'm not trying to be offensive but you were asking what to expect. Is the flat coming furnished?? Appliances? There are a couple areas in Sharjah that might not have been finished when you visited... Al Majaz and Al Qasba. Also Sahara mall has a whole new extension, it's nearly doubled the size. I don't remember what all is over there but there is a Paul restaurant, Bennigans, and some decent shops as well.

Century mall isn't new that I'm aware of, but I'll tell you this, I have never, not once, not in eight plus years, been in al mulla plaza and ive been all over the city, lived in various parts. It's harder for him to get to because he would have to make a left turn or u turn something like that, and go around the other part of the highway. It's right across the street so not as far as lulu but I honestly do not know what is in there. The only thing I know it as is people use it as a descriptor for directions lol

Cherpie, you are so full of great information! Thank you! Is Century Mall pretty new? Somebody else was saying Al Mulla Plaza was the closest to Al Mamzar, but that one is an older mall?

Thanks for your responses! It helps. CouchPotato, my son is moving there, and I will be visiting later this year. I was at Al Mamzar Beach Park 2 years ago, and I really liked it. My daughter used to live across from Sahara Mall. I just heard that the area is developing very quickly, so I was just wondering if there are any nice restaurants, cafes etc with wifi very close. How about maybe a large supermarket like Lulu's? Century mall has the large Carrefour. Lulu is right down the street as well, al nahda road side. Wifi not sure but shouldnt be a big problem, I know the city centre malls have it.

Nightlife, noooo... Well, there are some Indian dance clubs, I think, but bars and such, no. Brings me to this, Sharjah is dry, in case you did not know, there is no alcohol allowed. Like another said, Century mall is close (very boring, I'd only go for supermarket) and Sahara on the Sharjah side... Better, some ok chain type restos.

It depends how far out you can go easily, but that area is well placed for either cultural things to do in Sharjah or Dubai at the Shindaga side. It's a lovely area. are you talking in terms of holiday/tourist tings, or to live?

The closest malls to Mamzar are the Century Mall and the Sahara Mall in Sharjah. There is a movie theater at the Sahara Mall. There is not much nightlife in that area. For that, you will probably need to look at hotels which have nightclubs.
