Where can I get the cheapest trade licence for a consulting company (1 woman company)?

I have to renew my visa and trade license in less than 6 months. My company is currently registered at RAK freezone, and I have been very satisfied with their services. The only thing I am thinking about is the price of this trade license. I have to pay around 22.000 AED every year, just to stay in this country. My company is just me, so I don't have any employees, and I do the kind of consultation that I do not need a permission to sell or buy anything locally, or even to do business with any local companies.

Does anyone have information about other free zones, and whether they offer visas and trade licenses cheaper?

Thank you in advance, if anyone can help! :)

fairytale, can I please ask who you dealt with to set up your company? do you deal with RFZ directly or an agent? I may have to do this soon and will also be a one woman show :) I dealt with RAK Free Zone directly. If you have time, just do it yourself, you will avoid a lot of unnecessary costs. RAK FZ used to have an office at Fairmont Dubai, but they have now changed their location to Festival City (in addition to the HQ in RAK of course). They are super friendly, and helpful, and even flexible with a lot things. I can't say that setting up my business was easy, but I think it was as easy as it can be here ;). I also felt like the fact that I am a woman, helped me a lot, since I always get good service, and when I had to do the finger prints, medicals etc, they always offered special service for ladies without queues.

I second Key Business Group I checked the pages. Don't really know what to think, it looked OK I guess, but I am not interested in being dependent of a sponsor. Don't want to be accountable for someone else than myself, especially in this country.

Thank you so much ladies, for all these replies!!! Yes, the 22.000 AED includes everything, even the virtual office (that I never use), and all visa etc. costs per year. I do not need to sponsor any other employees or anything. It is just me in my company. I think my license is 7.500 AED per year, and in addition to that I have to pay 12.500 for office space (which I have never even seen, but it is mandatory), and some administrative fees. So it looks like the price I am paying, is already the "cheapest" option available :(. Might still check that Media City/ Knowledge Village option. Thank you for all the comments!

I have my license through media city / Dubai Studio City. Like they mentioned below the license is 7,500 but younthen have to add the rent for your virtual office which is about 10,500 aed then plus your visa. So it sounds like it is similar prices to what you already have. The only thing that might be an advantage to having your freezone company in Dubai is the free easy access to office if need be and printing of papers etc. Good luck.

Hi, you can get a FREELANCE license at Knowledge Village or Dubai Media City for AED 7500 per year. The company name must be your own name (sole proprietorship) and you can only obtain a visa for yourself, thus cannot sponsor anyone else. Go to: http://www.farahatco.net/registration-business-dubai-knowledge-village.asp?q=11 and scroll down all the way to the end. You can also deal with the KV directly. Their website is www.kv.ae HTH, MrsP <em>edited by MrsPacioli on 08/02/2012</em>

is that 22'000 including the "virtual office"? I'm not sure how much this company charges for the virtual office/business centre but they are reasonable and the sponsor is lovely. http://www.keybusiness.ae/comparepackages.htm

Thanks Al Quwatain for replying! I know what kind of license I need, and my company is FZE (free zone entity). I do not deal with local companies, and have been here already 3 years as an entrepreneur. The only thing I am wondering is whether I will get the license I need, cheaper than 22.000 AED per year. Ok, sorry I have no idea then ! GL

As a consultant you need a professional license, if you are dealing with with anyone or any company in the country. A FZ license does not cover this, but you need to go to DED and check on this. If you need a DED license, you will need premises and a local agent.
