Yes I have and I found it to be quite disappointing. Nowhere near its original. edited by momoftwo on 28/01/2011

I loved the book and the movie equally, each for its own merit. Has anyone read Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley?

I really like that film. First saw it as a child and then just a couple of years ago. The biggest surprise to me was this it was actually not a romance - more the life story of a very ambitious, unhappy and manipulative woman. Scarlett is inspiring int he sense that she is a survivor, but she lacks compassion and totally self-centred. I don't think we see her happy at any point in the story!

"After all ... tomorrow is another day" is a quote I say often when I have had a bad day!! But love - "As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me! I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again! No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill! As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again! "

I think Scarlet and Rhett's relationship was electric. Hated how it ended up and her obsession with that useless Ashley. I read the book about a year ago and was STUNNED at the massive racism and various justifications. I felt so conflicted and disgusted! Better just focus on the romantic aspects to enjoy it, I guess.

Loved the movie! I took a tour of the Margaret Mitchell house in Atlanta. I was surprised to hear that she was actually not happy with the way the book came to the big screen.

I remember reading the book in two days oh so many years ago -- could not put it down. Loved the movie, but the book is so much better.

Practically raised on that book! And adore the movie. We had recorded the movie from TV so I had 2 VHS tapes I used to watch with commercials!

I was quite amazed at how the book differs from the film (having seen the epic film first)... but had they written the film based exactly on the book it would have beat Lord of the Rings hands down as the longest film around! The books' about 900 pages long, if I remember rightly?

Scarlett wasn't written by the same author and I agree, big disappointment. Loved to watch it on a lazy Sunday. Did it play on TV here or do you have a DVD?

I found the sequel to the book,; 'Scarlett' ,a big disappointment , maybe because I was expecting something along the lines of the original.

The movie is fabulous, but the book is much, much better. Scarlett is one of the most complex yet believable characters in fiction. she is the epitomy of complex - a man could never live with her me thinks!! Rhett Butler is able...:) but he is full of s***t as well...

I LOVE it! But after the first time of seeing the full movie in one sitting, now I like to watch different sections for an hour or so and then leave the rest for later. Specially when its on TV so I don't even get to choose where I start!
