My dear expatwomen, i truely need ur help in this... I hate my frizzy hair, i wish i can have smooth shiny hair... My hair all in all is not bad.. If i just dry it with the blow dryer after the shower it is manageable & i just have to blow dry my bangs & follow if with a babyliss touch... But still its not smmmoooooth nor shineeeeeeyyyy...
So basically am considering one of those treatments... I dnt want it poker straight bcoz my hair is not thick, it ll look flat.... I just want it smooth, shiney and a little bit straighter...
P.s. I have had many hair colorings in the past where i went from darkest brown to just 2 shades lighter... So its not extremely bleached/ processed...

I need ur recommendations :)

[quote'> Starsouthern u seem to b very knowledgeable about the treatments... I saw you tube videos for kerastraight & honestly the results r just toooooooo straight & lifeless... But many ppl keep recommending it so i really dont knw if it ll just suit me... I ll go for more than one consultation & would update u guys.. Thnks for ur help... Starsouthern do u knw anything about nanokeratin? Would it b like biolustre? Nano Keratin is now a straightening system. It was never like Biolustre to begin with anyway. NanoKeratin was a treatment that replaced keratin in the hair using nano mulecules to repair any damage caused by over processing and drying, straightening etc. Biolustre is almost like a glue that coats your hair and stops it from breaking off. NanoMax however is a repair/conditioning treatment Maria Dowling and Tony & Guy used to offer the treatment out here but no longer sure if they do. Unless your hair is severely damaged you won't really see the difference with Biolustre. Ok so i guess u recommend kerastraight more... Am really excited to go for consultation... My hair is not that severly damaged, just from blow drying & straightening a lot... So biolustre wont b so effective i believe... Thnks again starsouthern ... Will post bk after my consultation :D A good stylist should cater the treatment to what you want. Good luck!

Make sure you ask how long each one should last, I know everyones hair is different and it also depends on the products you use and how often you wash or style it, but I'm sure I had the Biolustre done more often than the Kerastraight. I can't remember exactly but I think for me 2 treatments of Biolustre are equivalent to 1 treatment of Kerastraight so it's worth considering once they give you the price. (hope that makes sense!) its a point to consider too.. u know although kerastraight seems to be better am just scared it ll b flat straight & lifeless on me as i dont have a head full of hair... am more on the thinning side... i think i might decide to go gradually first.. biolustre probably... but will still consider the consultations thanks again yorky Bio luster won't straighten your hair, it also removes only minimal frizz it's an intensive hair repair system that was created for people who want to go from pitch black hair to platinum blonde in one day without breakage. So it will give you shiny hair but once washed at home you won't really tell the effects. Any straightening product will take the volume out of your hair. It's the waves and curls that give volume. Kerastraight is probably the best solution for you with the results your looking for. Starsouthern u seem to b very knowledgeable about the treatments... I had the Biolustre treatment done at Hair Works at JBR (Yvonne). For the Kerastraight I have had it done at Pastels at the Ritz Carlton but now I go to Ted Morgan at Motor City (Gina). I was happy with the service and treatments at Pastels but Ted Morgans at Motor city is a better location for me. If I were you I would book a consultation and discuss the products and prices with one of the stylists. Yorky who did u go to at pastels? or u think they r all good? i ve never been there b4.. actually am a dubai newbie :D thnks again I think his name was Joe, but I've heard good reviews about all of the stylist so I would just see who is available. Oh I just remembered Gina from Ted Morgans has just moved to the branch on the Palm, it's Becki that I use now. I've tried a few of the stylists at Ted Morgans and thought they were all very good. thnks :) will probably go to both for consultation & then decide :D

Loreal X-tenso- is a relaxer that will drop the curl in your hair temporarily. It will not leave your hair straight but will remove the frizz. It's made from the same chemicals as perm solution. loreal X-tenso cera thermique is a rebonding product that will permanently remove curl from the hair by breaking down the hair bonds and then realigning them straight with the irons. New regrowth will need to be treated but ends if done correctly stay straight. The whole process takes 2-8hrs depending on length and thickness of hair. Rebonding when done correctly has amazing results and does not damage the hair, it actually repairs it. Both treatments above should not be done on any hair that has been highlighted, bleached or coloured with 30vol or more peroxide. If you use home colours then you also shouldn't have it done. Henna users also can't use above products. Kerastraight, Brazilian blow out, nano keratin etc are temporary smothers. The way they work is that they coat your hair, each time you wash your hair you was a little bit away. It's the coating that makes your hair smooth. Other Brazilian straighteners that contain formaldehyde work in a similar way to a chemical rebounder but the formaldehyde is poison. Bio luster is purely a conditioning or repairing system it will not straighten hair. Curly or wavy hair is usually dryer than straight hair that's why it tends to go frizzy. If you buy a good protein based and moisture based treatment you'll find that your hair will be better. Unfortunately no one has hair that looks like a magazine cover without putting the work in to style it. Whatever you choose to do make sure you go to a qualified and experienced stylist. If you decide to go for rebonding google thermal rebonding there is s good forum that explains the process and what questions you should ask to make sure that your stylist is qualified to do rebonding.

I did Biolustre a few years ago and although I liked it to start with I don't think the results were lasting and I frequently had to use the hair straighteners. Last year I tried Kerastaight and I love it. The results are fantastic. I wash my hair every morning and use the hairdryer because I am in a rush for work but I only need to rough blow dry it and it's still straight and shiney. On the weekends I usually wash it and leave it to dry naturally which doesn't take long (my hair is just past my shoulders), and I never need to use the hair straighteners. It's not cheap and I would only recommend you use a reputable hair salon who know what they are doing. I am very happy with the results and think it's worth the cost. I also only use the Kerastraight shampoo and conditioner and once a week apply a moisture or protien mask.

The Lee Stafford Argan oil. Just buy it from Spinneys, but it's made such a difference.

i just wish i would get out of the shower & leave my hair to dry into beautiful shiney smooth hair :( Mine only did that after rebonding. Haven't done it for a couple of years though as I wanted it to recover. I only put minute amounts of product on, the thing I found that made the most difference was the oil.

Do you use any products on your hair? I've taken to using smoothing oils and some of them are fantastic and really calm my hair down. I also put leave-in conditioner and a bit of mousse. I never EVER blow dry my hair. The only treatments I've done like you're suggesting is rebonding my hair straight. It gets it's volume back after a couple of weeks, but is brilliant after that. edited by Chocs01 on 29/07/2012
