Hi Ladies just a question if anyone has any idea. I am having my first baby and trying to choose a travel system. We found mamas and papas sola system quite good as is lightweight (since going to be getting in and out car every day) the pushchair option is also suitable for newborn as it goes flat.
So question is: do you think carry cot (which is extra) is essential? when I got to mall / on walk / perhaps out in early evening, would baby be comfortable enough lying flat in pushchair with a cover ? or is carry cot much much better? tku as I am really unsure!

Thanks very much for all tips. I think have found a travel system second hand and I may buy the carry cot as well since she is also selling that! So looks like I just need to buy the car seat new. it seems second hand is good option as buying everything new is really expensive considering you are only going to use it for first couple years, plus everything is washable.

Maybe you could buy the carry-cot second hand? Bound to be other mums who are done with that part but still want the rest. Main thing with a newborn is that if you out and about you want then to be able to lie flat as their airways get constricted in the hunched position leading to lower oxygen levels, so the carseat attachments are not meant for anymore than maybe a half hour dash to the supermarket. When I was looking at prams I wasn't keen on those that didn't lie completely flat as I felt the newborn would slip forward and could potentially be tipped out. Have no idea what the model you are looking at is like, but I know a friend found that they could actually sit a moses basket inside their pram when they converted it to lie flat, which might solve your problem. After around 4 months DS could roll over and so we converted to pushchair mode, so yes, very short use.

We got the Sola too for DD before she was born, and opted not to get the carrycot. It was an extra expense, and since she would only be in it such a short time, we decided to do without. We had no problems whatsoever. She spent a deal of time in her Cabriofix car seat on the Sola base, in and out for the car with no issues. For longer trips, the sola pram lies flat and the shade comes right up. We just laid blankets under her, and wrapped her too. She was snug as a bug :-)

IMO, a carry cot is not essential for a newborn. Again, IMO, a better option is a stroller with a travel system where the car seat can be clipped onto the stroller for easy transfers.
