Changing station used until when?

Sorry, if this may be a silly question.

I'm curious to know until when do/did you use the baby changing station.

I have a standard baby changing station; my six month old babies are all over the place wriggling and hitting the edges, so these days, few times, I end up changing their diaper on a different mat on a floor or my bed.

So ideally, how old is the baby when we stop using the station? Until he's potty trained (for some reason, that looks too far for me)

I used my changing table for 3 months with my son and then once he could roll it was just too much hassle, once he was 6 months we moved to pull-ups and changed him standing. I think it depends on how wriggly your baby is :) Dear Kiwi, pardon my ignorance, but what is pull-ups? sorry, I mean like pampers nappy [b'>pants[/b'>, the kind you pull up like underwear while they are standing up rather than them having to lie down. edited by kiwispiers on 24/11/2012

I still use it for my 27 month old DD as well as my 6m DD. DD1 is potty trained but knows thats where she gets her bum washed. I have one down stairs and 1 upstairs. No problemwith her rolling off as would never leave unattended.

I used it on and off after 6 months, but started using it more when I became pregnant so I wouldn't have to bend. I also used a changing pad on the bathroom counter cuz I have the space and have a little diaper station set up there for after baths, etc

I use mine up to three years - they get through the wriggly stage and it saves my back - the bed/bench /floor options are too low

Stopped at about 6 months coz I just didn't feel comfy handling the wriggling from about the time she could sit. Not its just with a mat anywhere. Whatever you're comfortable with I suppose.

We've been using the ikea change table for 27 months for our first and will continue to use it through potty training and then for the next kid. It's specifically marked to be used from birth to 12 months, but I'm not sure why because it has proved really useful for us well past that recommended time, even through DD's wriggly stage (lasted 2-3 months or so). As she grew we just added a little pillow so that she wouldn't bump her head against the back of it.

my baby is 14 months and I am still using it. I have the ikea white table where the baby is perpendicular to you and baby can move around a bit without being dangerous.I dont like changing somewhere else as I dont want pee or pooh on my bed/floor and everything is handy. I wont change it anything soon.

I think it really depends on if you can manage to train your baby to stay in the station. To be honest I never bought the full changing table as I saw at as one of those things that takes up space and will only be used for a short time. What I did buy is just the changing mat and I place it on the bed for changing. I know that comment isn't useful, but my point is that I used my changing mat for my first daughter up until she was potty trained, and I still use it for my second child who is now nearly 17 months. I have never been a fan of changing my child whilst standing up and in the malls I used the changing table provided (with my own mat underneath of course!). So my point is if you want to continue to use the changing table then I think you should teach him that this is the place where he will be changed and I guarantee you that if he learns that then you will use it up until he is potty trained. If you start changing him in random different places, then he will become fussy when you change him where he doesnt like to be. I believe that the same is true for most things related to babies.
