Anyone attending antenatal classes? Wanted to check if there are any classes I can attend in beginning of March. I know I've left it too late (I am at 35 weeks already), but thought that it's not my first + was busy working. Now that I am finally going to have some time off before I deliver, thought that classes might help if I can find any. So, any tips?

Will be exactly 38 weeks tomorrow, saw the dr yesterday and the head is down, but that's about it. All my dr said is the baby will be on time. Let the count down begin!! I really need to stop procrastinating with my hospital bag and get it done. Anyone else due first week of March? DC2DXB - how's it going?

Trying really hard not to get there, but my fasting sugars are still on the higher side. 104, 107 ...like that. Touchwood though that baby is measuring fine... last I checked she was 2.6 kgs at 35 weeks+3 days. I have realised that it is starch in my case more than sugar that makes it worse so have gone completely off potatoes :( and rice. How often are you monitoring? I was doing it 4 times a day till I figured out what works for me and what doesn't. Good luck Nic, keep us posted.

thanks, will have to try gaviscon then. hubby brought rennie and gives me a mint drink from time to time, but this **** heartburn is just not going away :( I am even afraid to eat anything just not to make it worse. as for stretchmarks, I don't even come near the mirror, so not to get upset about it :)

I take Gaviscon and yes it is nasty, however the relief is amazing, It's soooo worth taking it. Just take it quickly and have a sip of water afterwards. Good Lucks. I also have had BH for a while now, but they are not painful, just uncomfortable for about a minute or so and then they go away. I feel enormous and am soooo ready to have this baby.

Some ppl find solace in Gaviscon for heartburn. I haven't tried it because the smell makes me puke. Yes the heartburn is crazy, just like the stretch marks that are not looking like they'll never stop showing up in more n more places!

I'm so tempted to do that DC! Though my MonicaGeller-[i'>ish[/i'> DH might just freak that everything's not sorted etc and not just the way HE packed it...lol. I told him the other day that maybe he needs to keep a towel on the passenger seat in the car incase my water comes gushing out sometime... and now I think he's more concerned about his stupid car seats than me..! But he is pretty much more freaked out than me. Any update on your Braxton Hicks? I'm used to the craziness of it now. Sometime's I'm almost hoping they turn painful and are the real thing...lol. hahaha - me too...lets get this show on the road! from what you described ive def had a bout of BH here and there. i just wish it was here, here and here. ;) and im definitely going to start carrying a towel around with me...hmm, maybe im a little monica geller as well!

I feel like im not going to have some hollywood moment where i need to run out...but i guess i should get started on it. i keep freaking out about my water breaking in some horrible embarrasing moment - not the labor itself. hmmmm you're not the only one, my bag is sitting empty in the closet, i figured i still have time, how hard can it be just to throw everything in, the nursery is all ready so we're just sitting tight here waiting for THAT moment, whenever that will be :) phew. but thats exactly it - the list is ready, i know where everything is.... why the frenzy to get the bag ready. although, stovetop made an excellent point. if we pack it, then unpack it - wouldnt that speed this along? :) and i still need to choose a chair and wall decals, so ok - i could do with one more week. :)

Hello Ladies, Just popped in to see how you are all doing? I think im fit to burst! baby is still riding quite high so still got bad heartburn at night and bending over is getting quite hard. Have also started having morning sickness, when i first wake up ....weird and not good for my weak bladder! DH keeps asking me to pack my bag as think he's worried it will be a mad dash, so will do it this weekend. Has anyone heard about the new floor/wing at City Hospital? An idea when it will be open as I hear their fairly busy now. Thanks Nic

Oooh wow Reidly, sounds like you are getting close :D I'm doing okay, just those momentary bouts of nervousness thinking I'll be stuck on Sheikh Zayed at peak traffic hours trying to make my way to the hospital :o But I'm also really excited to see my DD, so I think it's finally sinking in. 2Blossom you always make me feel better - thanks for this post ;) Everyone, from my mother to my best mate, has told me I cannot fail to know when I'm in labour but I am still nervous! Tonight, for example, I have a very hard, distended tummy and low, crampy pain but I'm not in pain, just feel very uncomfortable. Now I'm fairly sure this is not the start of labour but am still very relieved I'm seeing Dr. Nataliya tomorrow morning so that she can check me out and reassure me I'm not actually about to give birth!!! I think if I'd been having severe BH for the last couple of months it would be easier as at least I'd be sure about what a contraction feels like! Anyway, massive congrats to you for having such a well-behaved labour and delivery - am sure I'll scream the place down which would be VERY embarrassing! Have also heard a few horror stories about what the poor midwives and doctors can face when ladies are in the midst of delivering - at least they've seen it all before in case I do anything unmentionable, LOL! Stovetop, hope you're feeling more comfortable about things too!

You will be fine Reidly & Stovetop! One of the reasons I waited so long to have a baby was because I was terrified of giving birth. But I can honestly say I was very calm throughout the whole thing. I was also worried I wouldn't know when I was going into actual labour because I had had the BH for months before DS arrived. I woke up at 2am the morning he was born with a terrible headache and then more BH. I started timing them and since they were pretty regular I knew this was the real thing. You really do know when you are actually going into labour! I stayed calm the whole time which surprised me because I was worried I would scream the hospital down giving birth to him. Didn't make a peep until he crowned so I was very proud of myself! You'll probably surprise yourselves. Er no! I am 11 days away from due date and SO excited but also SO apprehensive. Have to say that I've had a really easy pregnancy so far so it's been quite enjoyable plus been TTC for a few years now so just bl00dy delighted it's finally happened and praying everything will be OK with the labour and with my precious baby!! Am really nervous that I won't recognise the labour pains when they come - my friends think this is hilarious and say I will know for sure, but I don't know if waters don't break and I don't get the show... anyway, think I am getting mild Braxton-Hicks but again, not quite sure!!! Anyway, it's fair to say I have my share of freak out moments LOL, luckily DH is VERY calm and practical so hoping the big event happens at night when he's here with me. :)

Dear God that is ridiculous! 4 kilos is nothing! Do they have really small babies or something?? In my experience Lebanese women are very glam so maybe this reflects their need to be back in shape shortly after the babies are born... but even so!!!! Blimey thought I was doing well at just over 12 kilos but the midwife was quite stern with me last week when I hadn't put any weight on since the week before and DH is constantly accusing me of under-eating. LOL, 4 kilos I just cannot get over that. Thank goodness we are living in Dubai! :) No ... they have like 3 kilo babies and the rest is placenta! Not even like really small babies or anything.... I don't know how they do it! But I guess its because they ALWAYS eat so healthy :o

Imagine my state when I heard that in Lebanon the NATIONAL AVERAGE for women to put on weight is 4 kilos…. FOUR KILOS!!!! I dare not google that information to find that its true because then I will certainly go into depression. This Lebanese lady at work told me about how her sister put on 10 kilos back home and the doctor did not let her hear the end of it. GOOD LORD.
