What are some of your favourite Baby/Toddler DvD's? So far we like the Baby Einstein (Baby Neptune & World Animals) and The Wiggles. We are going home to the UK soon and would like to order some online before we arrive to keep my DS (currently 8 mos) amused once in a while.

Rastamouse. DS has absolutely no interest in it whatsoever, but I love it!

'our' favourites include Night Garden, Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse, Chugginton, Waybuloo, Teletubbies and DD is currently a bit obsessed with Cars so we found some short cartoons on i-tunes with those characters. Also loves any kind of music stuff so we have a couple of music/nursery rhymes DVDs too. is waybuloo on here or do you have the dvds? I have no idea why DS liked it... it makes no sense to me. It's funny how grown ups simply don't get Waybuloo and In the Night Garden, but somehow these programmes manage to convey some sort of meaning to toddlers. :\: It's true - my DS (21 months) breaks into fits of giggles when either of those two come on. Other great ones are: - Show Me Show Me (kind of Playschool set up based around 2 themes with sketches, activities and a structured layout) - Alphablocks (quite frankly brilliant short animations based on teaching phonics. "I'm a pirate and my name is Arrrr!") - Octonauts (for slightly older pre-schoolers) (animation involving a team of characters having adventures in the ocean. Each episode investigates a new sea creature - Narwhal anyone?!) - Bagpuss (a classic, but fabulous nonetheless - characters come to life and tell stories around a found item that they repair) - Numberjacks (somewhat strange, but entertaining show based around numbers and basic maths) - Little Charlie Bear (wonderful animation where a toy bear starts playing and transports himself into scenarios involving all the toybox characters) - Chuggington (trainee trains get up to adventures, invariable teaching a moral lesson) - Tinga Tinga Tales (lovely cartoon telling traditional African stories of how creatures came to be the way they are) - Timmy Time (Shaun the Sheep's little brother goes to nursery with his friends and learns cute little things like sharing and whatnot.) edited by Hello.Again.Kitty on 11/04/2011

If you are going to the UK I would suggest that you didn't order anything in advance, put CBeebies on when you get there and see what your son seems keen on. Mine love: In The Night Garden, Waybaloo, Teletubbies (which we get here), Big Cook Little Cook (prob a bit old at the moment for your DS), Peppa P*g and Mr Tumble (a massive hit, I don't know a child in the UK that doesn't love Mr Tumble).

Does he watch them already? None of mine have been even vaguely interested in the TV until at least 18 months and not really 'watching' anything until at least 2. If you already have a few DVD's, why not just take those and not spend the money on something he may not even pay any attention to? :) Otherwise, buy a few lovely music CD's and he may enjoy those more (Wiggles, Justine Clarke, nursery rhymes etc). Some of the Baby Einstein DVD's are good just for background sounds. When mine were a little older they loved the Baby MacDonald and baby Beethoven. Not really watching just for a few minutes then loses interest. It is more to stock up when we go to the UK for the next year or so, plane trips etc. Saves on shipping etc and we aren't sure when we might get visitors again to bring anything out. Often we can't seem to find things here. Also to stock up for Christmas presents etc. I'm attempting to plan in advance.

The usual teletubbies, tweenies and all are popular with my daughter, but she's a couple of years older than 8 months! When she was that age, she liked Baby Einstein and the Fun Song Factory but really she watched anything. It doesn't take much to keep a baby occupied. I preferred not to let her watch too much tv so mostly to keep her occupied I put her in a room with a lot of dangling mirrors :)

My 14 mth old likes Banana's in Pyjama's, it's a singalong with all of the usual nursery rhyme's so the song's are familiar to her. She only just started watching it though and dancing along.
