Fetal movement at 28-29 weeks

Do you notice your baby kicks every day with the same intensity at 28-29 weeks? Since yesterday baby seems to be kicking less and I am starting to stress a bit. I read some books/websites and it says that from 28 weeks if you don't notice 10 baby movements in a couple of hours you should call you practitioner...

I don't want to be the typical hysterical first time pregnant going to the emergency room for nothing....

Any advise?

I am 27 weeks and have noticed baby being quieter some days than others for past couple of weeks. I have a fetal heart monitor, which was really reassuring during the quieter days (where I'd still feel him, but not as regularly). He's started getting a bit more active again now, maybe it was all the Christmas food making him sleepy!

He he yes I panicked first time too when this happened.this time around If I'm a bit worried I haven't felt him as active I try to sit and rest for a bit with a nice cold glass of water, if that doesn't get some kicks I've tried a cold glass of fanta or sprite and 15 mins later there is action :)

Baby is kicking again as before, as you told me s/he was probably in a different position or having a lazy day. Thanks for your replies! It is so scary when you are first time pregnant and you start reading websites!!!!

I am 39 weeks and at about your stage noticed my baby went quiet for a few days at a time then became really active again. The dr said this was normal as she was going through a growth spurt. Now, she is super active again and everyone said she should be quiet getting ready to arrive so I think it really depends on the baby. Again dr says nothing to worry about.

its probably that your baby baby has rolled into a different position so you are getting kicked in a less sensitive spot. No harm in a scan just to put your mind at rest though, always nice to see your baby :)

Thanks ladies for your quick reply. Baby was kicking a lot until the day before yesterday, but now it is not the same intensity. I have just emailed my doctor to tell her the situation, and if she thinks I should go and visit her. She is usually pretty good at replying emails, so I will wait for her answers (better than speaking to the nurse, I think). It is not that I don't feel anything, it is a big decrease in the strength and intensity of the kicks. I might be overreacting as a first timer but all the sources say so firmly that you should contact your doctor if you notice a change in the fetal movements... Thanks.

I'm 28 weeks now and my little guy is kicking, punching and rolling around in there a lot! I notice it now even more because he's gotten bigger and stronger I guess. Most of the books I've read say to try the timing and counting, looking for 10 movements as you've mentioned and if it's not there to try eating something and then do the timing and counting movements again. If you don't want to call your Doctor then why don't you just give her nurse a call first and see what she says.

I remember starting to get paranoid about movements/lack of movement at around that time. Short answer is no, I didn't feel consistent movement, sometimes lots of wriggling, sometimes nothing. I did even go to the Dr at one stage because I'd felt nothing for a whole day but turns out baby was just having a rest and started wriggling while I was in the waiting room. The position of my placenta (anterior, so it was between the baby and my belly, rather than behind the baby) also meant I didn't feel every little wriggle and kick like some mums do, might be the case for you too, if so, enjoy it you'll get more sleep!
