Thank you all for taking out the time to reply.. really do appreciate it :)
I think its a good idea to call 'babysteps', am sure they would have an idea too. I had used them , too when i had my DD..
Thanks Again.. :)
I think this might be the company that Holly referred to, we used them when DS was born and it was very good. They might have more info on their website as well (re: requirements) but I just haven't had a chance to look.

Here is a link to the Dubai.ae site that explains the registration process, it does say both parents need a visa but I gave birth to DD 2 years ago on a tourist visa but DH had residency. At the time I was told one of us must have residency. http://dubai.ae/en/Lists/Articles/DispForm.aspx?ID=29&event=Having%20a%20baby%20in%20Dubai&category=Citizens
Sharjah the rules may be different though.
I did it, and the short answer the authorities gave me was that as long as you were in the country legally, there was no problem. The reality was that I was glad DH was resident in order to facilitate the birth registration. I'm not sure whether he HAD to be by law, but I think it helped.
There's a company here who can organise all the birth registration paperwork on your behalf. The name of the company escapes me, but if someone else posts it, contact them and ask if you are likely to have any problems with the registration of the birth. (The hospital will definately not have a problem if she's here legally - regardless of the type of her visa).
To register the birth one of the baby's parents has to be a residence visa.
You could also try contacting the company baby steps as they may have more up to date info.

Hi
one of my friend stays in another GCC country, but her parents are here.. She wishes to give birth here (sharjah actually). Does anyone have any experience in this matter, or rather knows anyone who came here on a visit and had to have her baby here for one reason or the other?
They have enquired at the immigration but I dont think they got a straightforward answer or the person at the other end didnt speak english(or something like that!)
I was wondering if anyone knew something about this.. (possibly long shot but just wanted to try !))
Thnx so much :)
