Hi ladys.I am 17weeks pregnant through IVF and still have nausea ofcourse less but very sensitive to smell.I live in JBR and everything stinks here, tried to break my contract and move earlier, didn't work. Now i have 4months left from this awful place.smell comes always from A/C or people and restaurant cooking. Anybody has suggestion?I thought it will be over by week 12 BUT NO.

Maariyah... not much else to offer you on the morning sickness front except loads of positive vibes. Hope you feel better soon. What i did want to tell you though was about Dr. Yuliya at City whom i know you were looking at. I saw her last week and wanted to update you... yes its confirmed that she is leaving City. She will however be staying in Dubai at a clinic with birth privileges at the major hospitals she said. She will confirm the details at my next appointment since i think its a bit early yet - she's leaving in the middle of May she said. will update you next month if you're still keen. Cheers

I feel for you. Every time I think of the awful awful MS I went through in both of my pregnancies, I swore to myself I will never be pregnant again. But, ofcourse, being women, we forget too soon...and go back for more kids. Anyway, what helped me is chewing a gum. I almost lived on nothing but coke and watermelon in those days. Weird combo, I know, but it helped me keep it under control. Anyhing else I tried, went straight up and out. It will be over before you know it. edited by tahm563 on 15/03/2011

Maariyah - try keeping some Polo mints handy - those really helped me at times. And like many of the posters have already mentioned, and even though you may not feel like it, try to eat small amounts of food throughout the day. One of the other things that helped me was keeping some food (i.e. crackers, melba toast, pretzels, ginger biscuits etc.) at the bedside table and eating that very early in the morning even before I got out of bed. It was awful as I had to force myself to eat that early in the morning but it did help sometimes. All the best and you will get through this even though it feels like forever right now!

AS I said before nothing worked for me either, the Navidoxine wasn't that effective either, the only effective thing to do is try to sleep, and pray the time goes by fast. Try not to move much either and rest a lot!. I feel for you, but then it will get better.

Ok so i know it sounds weird but salt n vinegar crisps worked wonders for me. No, it doesn't :). It did wonders for me too, along with the strangest combination of foods throughout the day.

thank you so much for all the helpful suggestions I am now taking the Navidoxine, it's not really kicked in yet but I will persevere. Also I did try the search function and found lots of other helpful hints. Go EW!

There are several medications available for MS however - and very important!!! - I wouldn't recommend taking any medication without seeking medical advice first!!! WRT medications - Navidoxine worked a treat for me last pregnancy (it does make you drowsy - I found taking it the night before every alternate night worked the best). Metoclopromide - I found I developed a tolerance to this quickly, but it did help a little. Zofran (hideously expensive but worked really well!) My OB also recommended trying phenergan if the above didn't work. Other ways of dealing with MS... Eat small meals regularly (the idea is that your blood sugar never drops too low which can cause nausea) Carbs! (I found fatty carbs worked the best! Not idea for a healthy diet, but fries - McD's were my fav!) Sipping on water/ ice cubes Sucking on lollies - you can get MS pops but chuppa chups work ok, chewing gum also stimulates saliva which helps. Ginger biscuits Seasickness/ motion sickness bands SLEEP!!! If I was tired it was always much much worse HTH It will end eventually and it's all for a wonderful cause! :)

Hi maariyah - I was lucky enough not to suffer from ms and I suspect this had something to do with drinking lots of home-brewed ginger tea which was prescribed to me by my acupuncturist. Good luck : ) Do try ginger tea - it seems to work for a number of things. I have always been a very good sleeper but since I got pregnant I have been waking up in the middle of the night and been unable to fall asleep again until the time the rest of the world gets up. Last couple of weeks I have been drinking hot water with a slice of lemon and a slice of ginger, and now I seem to be able to sleep through the night. Also, when I had morning sickness I always had crackers - it seemed t work.
