A friend of mine has just gone home to have her baby and has been told she doesn't have to pay, but I had antenatal care in the UK last summer and was charged for every appointment. They were very clear I'd have to pay to deliver there too (I've lived in Dubai for 11 years so fair enough). I'd check out what the policy or practice is in your area before you make your mind up. My friend is planning to stay four weeks after the birth as long as she gets her newborn's passport in time.
ETA: She went home at 34.5 weeks and the latest her doctor would let her fly was 35 weeks - she was cutting it fine! Emirates told her she'd need a letter of consent from her doctor dated within seven days of her flight.

Hi There,
I had my prenatal care with Dr Britt here in Dubai at City Hospital, who was utterly lovely & I would have happily delivered there.
Went back to UK at 30 weeks as it was summertime anyway & too horrible to stay in Dubai. Stayed, delivered at 38 weeks & then flew back here with a 2 week old newborn. It was quite a push to get our UK passport through in time for the little one to fly, it came 2 days before flight & only after we went chasing for it & paid the extra express fee...

Hi ladies I just got a BFP at the time when I'm most busy, on 14.11.12 I'm off on holiday and shipping our stuff from Bahrain, when we arrive on the 3.12.12 ill need to find a new home and Antenatal care, would be so kind as to give me any information on which hospitals you liked the best and the procedure for gaining a British passport,. Also info on women who went back to uk to have their babies when did you leave how long did you stay in uk for? I'm open to both options easiest I think is have baby in dubai.
