Hi TDB
I had MS for 7 months or so. After the first 3 months of vomiting at least 4 times a day and being constantly nauseas I had Navidoxine prescribed by my Obs as City Hospital. I was a mess at that stage.
The tablets made my days bearable and meant I could keep working throughout. My job was pretty demanding so I couldn't take sick leave at all. Before I took Navidoxine I tried everything but after a while all of the remedies made me sick too. I think the only things that helped somewhat and I can't remember getting sick from them were coconut water and hard candies (preggie pops etc.).
Even with the Navidoxine I could still feel the nausea but it meant I could get out of bed every day. I stopped around 5 months but I was sick by the next day or something so went back on them.
If I had the same severity of MS with the next I wouldn't hesitate to take it once I am through the first trimester, as I will be working and looking after DD then too.
The tablets are extremely cheap and I don't think a prescription is needed but I may be wrong about that..
Hope you feel better soon :-/
oh TDB poor you. Not easy when you have work and juggling LO too.
I was sick every couple of hours for 9 months, someone at some stage gave me these pills but I couldn't bring myself to take them for more than a day - I just don't trust them. It's up to you, but lots of other things work (not really for me but seem to for other people).
Firstly, ignore what the scales say and put them away. It doesn't matter if you are eating all the time, do what makes you feel better. if eating salt and vinegar crisps and drinking 7up for breakfast makes you feel better, do it!
Get the travel sickness bands from the pharmacy. They are like acupressure and press on the point on your wrist for nausea.
Anything high in Vit B (almonds) are good and good for constant snacking too.
carrying half a lemon in your bag helps, sniff regularly!
I know you are over ginger, but try different things (ginger snaps etc).
eat a little, often. salty things.
guava juice helped me. lol i remember being in the car with DH and driving to meadows spinneys at top speed shouting I need guava juice RIGHT NOW!
remember it will probably definitely pass at 12 weeks, so not long to go.
chew gum for 'the taste' omg i remember that.
take care hope it passes soon xx
Just adding, when you wrote MS my heart sunk, thinking you were talking about ther other MS, and I nearly cried for you thinking 'no! She's just had a baby! :'('... Then I realised and my heart lifted :)
Oh I missed this!
I used it with DS as like you it was intolerable. And you have someone else to take care of too, AND work! The only reason I didn't take it for DD and DS2 is because I never went past nausea more than once, but with DS it was constant vomiting!
I did not finish my pills, I took the first one and it was over by day two.
It was prescribed by the Dr, no questions, she simply said 'MS? Ok, take these, drink pregnancy tea' (German dr). My air fryer couldn't make them ;)
Pregnancy went on smooth with no trouble!
The worse the morning sickness, the stronger the implantation, that Dr told my mother, so great sign!
Big CONGRATULATIONS!
Do you work in the DIFC area? I ask because maternity leave there now is 65 days, with full, then half pay.
Hi TDB :)
I am currently preggers with my second (due in a few weeks). I have suffered severe MS with both of my pregnancies from around week 5 till week 16. I never wanted to eat as it would just come back up :( even water was a real struggle. With my first pregnancy I was given some tablets (sorry can't remember what they were called but think they began with a p??) you had to take them half an hour before eating. My Dr didn't want to give me anything stronger as I was working full time and couldn't afford to be drowsy etc. Anyway the tablets for my first pregnancy were a load of rubbish! Didn't do anything at all.
This time around I was given navidoxine. BRILLIANT!! They stopped me from being sick and I could actually start eating (although the sicky feeling was still in the back ground I didn't feel like I was constantly going to throw up at any second). The only problem I found with these were that they made me feel quite spaced out for a few days and I didn't quite feel like my arms and legs were properly attached to my body!! Weird feeling but 100 times better than the sickness so worth it in my opinion. The weird feeling only lasted a few days and then I was back to normal but without the sickness :) Could start playing with my little girl again instead of sitting her in front of the tv whilst I sat as still as possible feeling very sorry for myself!! lol.
Pretty sure that you don't even need a prescription for the navidoxine (I was prescribed it at first but then my Dr said no need for a repeat prescription - just go to the pharmacy and buy it) but it's best to talk to your Dr before taking just to make sure they are right for you.
I hope you get the MS sorted soon and can start enjoying the rest of your pregnancy :)
I am so sorry you are going through this, i would not recommend the pills as my doctor said there is a reason for MS, and it is to get rid of the toxins that could harm the baby (God forbid).. what i suggest is taking ginger.. helped me a lot during my pregnancy i used to have it with everything.. i used to have stacks of ginger ale in my fridge for whenever i felt quizzy..
give ginger a go and see how it goes from there..
i wish you the best.. hang in there.. hopefully it will go away soon so that you can enjoy your pregnancy time.. :)
