Hi Ladies
What are your experiences with driving whilst pregnant? I have been very active throughout my pregnancy, am at 40 weeks today and finished up work this week. I'm a confident driver and would happily continue driving if it wasn't for the fact that I could pop any moment and that hubby is freaking out about the prospect of me getting behind the wheel.
TIA!

Spoke to a close friend - her DH is in the police here. He said he knew about the law regarding not driving but not the rest (being charged with murder etc . Guess thats up to the courts). DH now banned me from driving! :'(

I would mom of twins, my 7 year old DD is in a car seat with adult belt I would use a minimum of a booster seat we have a near miss nearly every time we are in the car so it is important to make them as safe as you can.;) Bring them and use them. Might not be the law here but it's common sense since the roads can be very dangerous and speeds are high so accidents are nasty.

I am horrified at the kids bouncing around in cars in the middle east, you have much higher odds of being in a serious car accident here, don't even entertain the idea of not bringing the booster seats.

presumbly only because mum was in front seat though, or do children in the back need carseats in Dubai? Good question, as I am coming in with 7 year old twins, do I need my booster seats in Dubai?

Weird that they would punish a woman for driving with her child safely in her womb, when a week later she could have just about driven home from the hospital with it on her lap and noone would have raised an eyebrow. true, but she (if the mother caused the accident) would still be charged, there was a father arrested recently and will apparently be charged with murder of his unrestrained child after an accident on the Palm, child was on the mothers lap.

Yes that is pretty frightening. I don't really understand their point, wouldn't the baby be just as likely to be injured if the mother had been in the passenger seat? It's not as if the motheris judgement or eyesight is affected by pregnancy. I drove myself to the doctor while in early labour, and she gave me permission to drive myself back home again. She said as long as I felt able to drive, I could go ahead and drive!

Don't know what to say.... it doesn't make sense to punish the woman after she has lost her baby! I know, a lot of things here don't make sense.

It happened to a woman a couple years back. She was heavily pregnant (38 weeks, I think?) and had a car accident and the baby sadly died. She was held responsible. I clearly remember this as we were in NYC and when I heard this I got very upset. I didn't drive in the last month of my pregnancy as to me, it just was not worth the added stress and I was far too tired to drive anyway.

I was told by CID at work that it's actually illegal to drive here once you are past 30 weeks. Which was a shock to me as I drove myself to the hospital with baby no 2! But he said that if anything were to happen that the pregnant woman would be held responsible and be procecuted, if God forbid anything happened to the baby then the mother would be charged with murder. After he told me I did remember about a case where this did happen to a woman. So stopped driving.

When I was close to my due date with my first DS i used to put a towel down on the seat with plastic under it in case my water broke all over the carseat! ;) Whatever you're comfortable with - but slow down, relax and enjoy these last few days and be pampered... surely there's not much more you need doing before you're beyond ready!
