ladies... i've been TTC for over a year now... been on Clomid for the past three months....

i have regular periods and never ever miss my date... and today i'm a day late (absolutely jumping for joy inside!)

really really really really hoping i'm preggers this time... pls pls pls say a prayer for me!

my fingers and toes are crossed hoping and praying that I am indeed pregnant and that I manage to sustain this pregnancy (had a miscarriage in my 4th month last year)...

i think i might go insane unless i go in for a test!

aww don't worry fullofdreams... that placenta will come back into place sooon :) just be careful until ur next scan at least... especially if u have any younger children that u might need to carry... what i do for my DD is ensure that is still hug her and stuff but when i'm in a sitting down position... instead of starting the hug by carrying her up to my height... :) i'm due 2nd feb... but i guess it's always +/- 10 days :)

I am the same did not do blood test nothing I can do and it's not 100% correct anyway. Lady told me of someone had it done the resuilts came back high which means something wrong. Gave both to a healthy baby girl but spent her whole pregnancy stressing. The scan was good healthy baby I could not believe how much he/she was moving around amazing. One down side and I am worried is that my placenta is a bit low. So NO heavy lifting but he said I am sure it will move up but it's in the back of my mind now and I do worry to much. I will really miss going to conceive and everyone there they are all lovely and Dr Pankaj is just great so calm and knows everything. They say my due date is end of Jan beginning Feb I am sure it will come around very quickly.

Yes, this stage is just a screening test, so if you do not plan on having any further investigations, if indicated, which are more conclusive, then I personally would not spend the money.

I had it done with my first but its basic routine back in Canada and we don't pay for it. I didn't have it done with my second since I was traveling. Honestly if you are not concerned with the whole down's syndrome then why do it. You get the routine scans at your appointments to see everything is okay with the baby and that's way more important.

To abby_n_christina that is great news I am so pleased for you. I am 11 weeks and 1 day so we are very close in time. I go back to conceive next wednesday for final scan and loads of blood test. This will include the one for Down's and to be honest I dont know if I want it done. Its not 100% conclusive and I would rather not know there is nothing you can do about it anyway you will love your little one no matter what. I know you can plan i find out more but you could then end up having a very stresssfull pregnancy.

thanks for ur reply DubaiCat... we're still deciding what to do... one part of me just wants another sneak peek at the lil angel... and another part of me is nervous about what i might find out... whether the baby has Down's or not... we'll still accept it wholeheartedly... and i don't think knowing now (as opposed to once the baby's out) will make it any easier to accept... but that's just life I guess... u take what u get and move on :) i'm only 30... with one DD at home who's 4yrs old... my husband is 32... we're not related in any way so I guess that rules out any chromosomal issues... but i'm only concerned because last year when we got preggers we lost the baby during the pregnancy and they say when ur body miscarries it's the body's way of avoiding a imperfect baby from being born... so this time round i just want to be aware of whether there's anything wrong genetically... i think i will stop with this test though... i wouldn't dream of doing anythin invasive... more so 'coz i hate needles (and not just coz of the risk of miscarriage)... just want to be sure... coz this pregnancy was not completely natural (i was on clomid 100mg for a month)... plus i've been on duphaston ever since after the first month... this is so ****** confusing... wish i were back in the days when there were no scans and no tests... when u just had ur baby the old fashioned way...

I didn't have it and these were my reasons for not having it; 1. I was 31 when I was pregnant with DS so at home I wouldn't have had it as routine. 2. It only gives you a probability so you won't know for sure unless you do further tests. 3. The further tests are invasive and carry a miscarriage risk. 4. You can't do anything about a positive result - other than prepare yourself - in the UAE (as far as I know). I did consider it more seriously second time around, as having a baby with Down's would impact on DS's life as well as our own, but again we didn't do it. I'm 32 and not considered high risk, and we didn't think we'd have acted upon a positive result anyway, so we decided not to bother. Having said that, when we've had other scans the doctors doing them have been able to let us know the nuchal fold looks perfectly normal so that's been reassuring.

Congratulations, that is great news. Yes I had the test. I think that it is recommended if you are over 35 (this was in Australia). In the public system you only have two ultrasounds, at 12 & 20 wks, so the blood test for NT was done a few days before the 12 week scan. Thanks for the info TwoKids... i just didn't want any unnecessary tests done... plus it's gonna set me back 1500dhs as it isn't covered by insurance... I've just been doing some reading on it... and i think the first stage is non-invasive so I guess I'll go along and get it done just to be on the safe side... the doctor didn't mention any blood test... she just told me it would be a detailed ultrasound...

Hi abby n christina, just wanted to say..i felt the same as you with all the worry as I had some complications in the 1st tri..anyway I got an angelsounds fetal heart doppler, from amazon, its the best thing Ive bought so far! I got it when I was about 14 weeks and found the hb right away, now my baby is bigger and its so easy and clear. I realllly recommend one, not expensive at all either! i checked on amazon.co.uk and they have the product but unfortunately they can't ship it to me in dubai... and i don't have an aramex shop & ship account... not much of an online shopper unfortunately... do u know if this is available anywhere here in dubai... and how much it costs?

just thought i'd drop in a line here... downloaded the iphone WHAT TO EXPECT app and now am checking it regularly everyday... it tells me that I'm 9weeks 4days today... my next appointment with the doctor isnt till 19th july... and that just seems so ****** far away at the moment... so nervous... keep wondering if everything's okay... seriously considering investing in my own doppler to keep track of the heartbeat... anyone else on here done that? or going through the same emotions?

went for my follow up scan yesterday... by God's grace everything is exactly as it should be... the fetus size is showing 8weeks 2 days... exactly as per calculation... heart beat is strong (praise God!) and all looks well... the doc made me do a barrage of blood tests for their records and now i have to go back end of july (basically at the end of my first trimester)... such a relief... just keeping fingers and toes crossed that the next four weeks are absolutely uneventful! :) hope everyone else is doing well too :)

fullofdreams - i can totally relate to u... one side of me is already doing virtual hunting for baby names while the other side is scared as **** to get excited... either way... i think the best thing to do is take each day as it comes... so for this day, sharing in ur excitement for having heard the heartbeat... hope it gets stronger by the day till u can see and feel it when that little bundle of joy is in ur arms! :) God bless!

Just back from my first scan... Had tears rolling when I saw the tiny pulsating sac... Was so relieved to finally see that so I could start believing that I'm really preggers and not just hallucinating! Doc says I'm 6weeks 2 days and so far scan shows the same... Just so exhausted now... Please keep praying that all goes well during my trip to Sweden... Will msg back in on Friday once I'm back... Hope all's well with all ur lil bumps too! God bless Congratulations!!! :)
