To those who used BLW - I need your advice
Hi all,
I wasn't planning on using baby led weaning but I am considering it now. My baby started solids about ten days ago and it hasn't gone very well. I started with wholegrain cereals and the first couple of days were OK. She wouldn't eat more than a couple of tea spoonfuls but that was fine because she was actually interested. Then this week she has flat out refused to open her mouth and whenever she sees me with the bowl and spoon she screams. She cut her first tooth just yesterday and she didn't eat anything at all yesterday. She's taking BM as usual if not more since yesterday.
So I am concerned and have decided to let her try feed herself but there's one problem. If her cereal is a little lumpier than usual she gags and vomits so I can't imagine what a finger food would do to her? What are the best foods to give as a finger food for a six months old baby? She loves holding things and putting them in her mouth so that is encouraging but once the food gets closer to her throat I'm scared of what will happen. I don't want to approach her with a spoon anymore as it really upsets her so I am surely going to give BLW a go. But I need all the tips and advice I could get from moms who've been there. Please help.
