What's your pumping speed?

Haha the subject sentence somehow sounds funny. Anyways, my exclusively breast fed DD is 7 months now. I pump just for emergencies or when I know I won't be able to feed in public. So average pumping sessions are once or twice a week. And it takes me half an hour to pump about 120 ml on both sides ( have a medela twin pump) And when I pump I need to ensure complete privacy, curtains drawn, music on for distraction, door room locked. I can not pump when the elder kid is awake or if a door bell rings or someone knocks on the door- i just am unable to continue. I don't know if that sounds weird to others but somehow that is how it is. I even feel very inhibited if my DH walks in. So in short- it is not easy for me. And now that DD is just taking 4 hourly feeds and has started solids well, I am thinking maybe its ok to replace the once/twice a week bottle feed to a formula instead of EBM. Am hoping my BM supply is established enough to be able to cope with a couple of missed feedings in a week. Please advise :)

meals you obviously didn't read the "breastfeeding in public thread" on the doha forum (now deleted). It appears some people have nothing better to than keep watch for rogue breastfeeding mums who don't cover ;) Bring it on!!! In my current hormonal state, if someone dared say something to me about bf-ing my LO in public they would wish they'd never laid eyes on me (or my nipples! ;) lol)!

I own 2, but my guy refuses to stay under one, he is 10 months old and quite capable of whipping it up and showing off my assets to all and sundry and amusing himself greatly in the process. He also pretty much refuses to feed if there is anything more interesting going on (ie anybody else in the room) :( hehe..mine's starting to do that.. so i pin the end of the blanket under my fat a**e!! heheh ROFL :D !!! My LO's the same... driving me mad - but I figure, who cares! If I'm descrete enough, it's only those who go out of their way to watch that would cop and eye-full!

Sunsa I think it will be fine to give one or 2 bottles a week, as you say your daughter is now on solids and is probably having dairy. If it is one or 2 feeds a week it probably won't affect your supply, especially if you keep the bottles on the small side to encourage her to take more breastmilk at her next feed. The hardest thing will be not being tempted to give more formula more often once you have made the switch. I understand re the pumping, it is the same for me and I haven't pumped in over 5 months although I am pretty good at ducking into changing rooms etc to give a quick feed to tide him over when out and about. (we don't do shceduled feeding) If your daughter is obliging, you can probably instead give a little puree when you are out, and make up for it with an extra feed once home assuming you are not out all day.

if you want to introduce ur DD to formula, mix 1/2 and 1/2 with EBM first.. don't worry..your milk will adjust to your pumping.. as in, if you only need to feed 2x aday, then the milk will only produce enough for that.. hhmm.. won't be overnight tho..prolly take 2-3 days.. S
