We stopped at about 7 months as they're well onto solids by then anyway & usually trying to put far worse things in their mouths!!! I think if you're generally quite good about hygiene anyway then that's enough...

i've never boiled the water for the formula; just sterilised the bottles (still doing that, my daughter is 8 months now) and never had any issues So, what type of water do you use?, hot?

Yes, I;m with Kiwispiers on this too. We use the microwave steriliser. Even after being washed with a bottle brush I cannot imagine the double Breast Flow teats we use being ready for use without sterilising.

The reason for sterilizing bottles is different from the reason you sterilize other stuff and boil water. Once they can crawl and are on solids there is no point in sterilizing dummies and toys and probably no need to use cool boiled water (unless you are using dodgy tap water) bottles however are sterilized not to kill the general household germs you'd find on surfaces or the floor but to kill any bacteria from left over milk residue which can be hard to clean out and dangerous. Technically you should always sterilize bottles as the risk is always there. I totally agree with kiwispiers

My son is 9 1/2 months old and I still sterilise his bottles and boil arwa water for his formula and his drinking water. When did you stop doing this? I think he'll be ok with drinking water, its more the formula that has me a bit worried! Thanks I'm so glad you asked, we've just hit the 10 month mark and I have been wondering about the same thing!

Some people do bring the formula itself up to a certain temperature and then let it cool to kill any germs in the milk before a feed.

We steralized the bottles and bolied the water upto 1 year. After that we done neither and DD still on formula at 20months.

As long as your DS on formula, you need to sterilize bottles and prepare formula on boiled water.
