Thank you so much for your answers. Does anyone know a good doctor that would be able to help us? TIA

Without knowing what your son's issue is, I would also add to be wary of Dr's here as they seem quite ignorant in general of what to do with/expect from an intact penis. I heard a horror story of a paediatrician forcibly retracting a young boys foreskin, resulting in it swelling and getting "stuck" and in the end needing emergency surgery. Many Drs here seem to tell parents they should be retracting foreskins of newborns, very outdated advice. A lot of the "risks" of not circumcising, are now thought to be more the result of forced retractions causing damage. I'm assuming you didn't circumcise him as you prefer he not be, so it is probably worth taking whatever steps necessary to keep him intact. I'd do your own research and consult with Drs in the west if you have doubts on the "diagnosis".

I would seek a second and third opinion from a doctor who is used to seeing intact little boys. Something rare here as many nationalities routinely circumcise - so many doctors will be not used to seeing and treating intact penises. They will be used to seeing circumcised boys and will be more inclined towards surgical procedures. I would possibly seek out a British or Australia or European general practitioner (from countries with low rates of circumcision) - rather than a surgeon (who is obviously going to recommend surgery as this is their specialty). Unless your son is experiencing pain or ongoing infection it is very very rare for 3 years to require circumcision for real medical reasons. It is very common for 3 years to be unable to retract their foreskin - this is perfectly normal and of no need for concern in itself. As long as retraction is possible at puberty this is fine. If you are using the steroid cream to achieve retraction because the doctor thinks retraction is necessary I wouldn't bother. Quite often when you stop it will tighten again naturally. Increasing testosterone as the boy ages is the trigger for retraction. http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/info/retraction.html

I am sorry but why did he need an ointment...did he have an infection? Maybe you could also get a second opinion somewhere else?

Yesterday I took my little son to see a peadiatric surgeon who indicated that he may need to be circumcised. The doctor prescribed (as a first alternative) a oilment to be applied for 2 months but failing this, he will need to be circumcised. Wondering if anyone has had experience in: 1)How effective is this oilment treatment? is it worth doing it or is it just a waste of time? 2)In terms of the circumcision itself, how is the recovery for young boys? 3)My son is potty trained and does really well, so I am mindfull of his reaction... is he likely to refuse using the toillet and so, he will have to use nappies again? what about in school? I am sure his "big" school won't have the facilities to change nappies... Regarding surgeons, anyone could please refer me to a good doctor to perform the procedure and also give us a second opinion? TIA xx
