Commuters are in for a treat today as they use the Dubai Metro

To mark the anniversary of RTA turning 13 years old, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai is setting up major celebrations via the Dubai Metro on Thursday, November 1.

Metro users will get the opportunity to be a part of the Guinness World Record by simply commuting via the Metro on Thursday morning – and the record is set by the most diverse group of multinational rides as they hop from Etisalat Metro Station.

Commuters will also get the chance to win prizes worth up to AED150,000 and be a part of fun activities.

After 13 years of the RTA’s effect in Dubai, the transportation authority aims to improve the environment and achieve development in the transportation system.

“RTA is making renewed efforts to make public transport the ideal mobility choice of people in Dubai in the daily movement to work or leisure," said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.

"The future plan is to improve the infrastructure and efficiency of public transport means and offer more smart services to the public,” he added.

And to celebrate this on Thursday, there will be lots of different activities and chances to catch up and meet with celebrities while they use the Metro - keep an eye out!

Many cash prizes

Dubai’s RTA will choose 4 lucky commuters and one person of determination commuter to win cash prizes of a total of AED100,000.

And 5 public transportation riders from the RTA employees will be prizes of a total of AED50,000.

Also on Thursday, tourists can win the chance to transport around Dubai hands-free – a moving company will move the luggage of 100 lucky tourists from the Airport to any destination in Dubai.
