How to Book Your Covid-19 Vaccine at Home in the UAE

Home bookings for a free Covid-19 vaccine are now available across the UAE.

You can book a Covid-19 vaccine appointment at a range of health service providers across all Emirates. If you're eligible, you needn't go to the medical centre itself and can get it for free at home.

Those who can get their Covid-19 vaccination at home must fall under the following groups of people:

  • People with chronic diseases
  • People of determination
  • Elderly above 60 years old

How to book your Covid-19 vaccination at home

If you're eligible for the free Covid-19 vaccination and home service, here's how you can book your appointment.

Residents who live in Dubai can receive the free jab by calling the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on 800342.

If you live in Sharjah, simply call the Social Services Department at 800700 and book your appointment. Families of those eligible in Sharjah can avail the free home service as well.

In Abu Dhabi, the vaccination service can be booked through the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) call centre at 80050. Their special medical teams will visit your homes to administer the free shot.

Which Covid vaccines are available?

At the time of publishing, Dubai health authorities are offering the Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines to residents free of charge. However, the Pfizer vaccine is currently for priority groups only, whereas the Sinopharm vaccine is available for all residents.

What is the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine?

The Pfizer vaccine was developed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German company BioNTech. It's reported to have an effectiveness rate of 95%. The vaccine comes in two doses, and your protective immunity against Covid-19 is expected to build up after four weeks.

In this current phase, the vaccine is available by appointment only, for select priority groups such as frontline workers, people of determination, people with chronic health conditions, and the elderly.

The Pfizer vaccine has recently been approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and registered by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP).

What is the Sinopharm covid-19 vaccine?

Sinopharm is a Chinese-developed vaccine against Covid that is reported to have an efficacy rate of 85%. This vaccine also comes in two doses. The Sinopharm vaccine is available for walk-ins for all UAE residents.

You're advised to avoid taking the Pfizer or Sinopharm vaccine if you are pregnant, plan on getting pregnant, are a breastfeeding mum, under the age of 18, or have allergies to certain vaccine ingredients.

As of Sunday, UAE health officials reported 3,453 new Covid infections, 3,268 further recoveries, and five more deaths.

Total cases now stand at 253,261, out of which 225,374 recovered. 745 people in the UAE have died due to Covid-related complications.
