Dubai is no stranger to epic malls and breaking records and now, you can add this upcoming mall to the list.
In 2017, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, kicked off the construction of Meydan One Mall with a ceremony on site - and now it's expected to be completed and open to the public in the second half of 2020.
The upcoming mall is located between the Meydan Hotel and Al Khail road and will span almost 1.5 million square metres and home to an array of shops, restaurants, and epic entertainment facilities.
Meydan One will host the worlds longest indoor ski slope covering 1km and the worlds largest dancing fountain at 380m in length. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.Plans also include Crystal Lagoon with 500 metres of beaches and a water park and there's now news of a 4000-square-meter electric go-karting track, which will be the regions first indoor track in partnership with E-Karting.
Finally, the mall will feature a 100-square metre retractable skylight arena and roof. So while you can enjoy the blissful air conditioning in the hot summer months, you can still enjoy the beautiful weather for the rest of the year!
It will be home to 620 shops, 100 food and beverage outlets and a 13,200-square foot hypermarket. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a 400m strip just for luxury brands.
While a list of stores hasn’t been revealed yet, shoppers can look forward to new brands and exclusive lines.
Over 46,000 square metres of mall will be dedicated solely to entertainment.
If you’re not a big shopper, there’s still plenty for you to enjoy. The mall will also feature a 21-screen cinema with a food court and a 25,000 square metre multi-purpose indoor sports facility.
The sports facility will be a fitness lover’s haven. It will have fields and courts for football, basketball, volleyball, squash, racquetball, paddle ball, table tennis, badminton, indoor cricket, mixed martial arts, boxing, jogging and softball.
The fun doesn’t stop there! Outdoor lovers won’t be disappointed either. There will be outdoor football pitches, a mountain bike, walking and running trails as well as skateboard and BMX parks.
