almost as bad as Moon Unit - frank Zappa's daughter! I think she changed it when she realised she lived on planet earth Not at all, she never changed it, she's proud of it. None of Frank Zappa's four children have changed their names. Don't like Harper as a first name, though. It's a surname! Similarly, I don't like it when kids are gives names like Parker or Reilly or Harrison or Jackson - again, as far as I'm concerned they're last names, not first ones. one of mine has Jackson for a middle name - we liked it, it went well with his other names and i was thinking of Jackson Browne - not Jackson as a surname.. Congratulations to the Beckhams, and i think they'd get b!tched at whatever name they chose....unfortunately, Beckham Bashing seems to be a national sport these days lol

I thought Harper was a boy's name. can be both but originally i think it was. But then Cruz is a girls name. i think i prefer Cruz for a boy than a girl though. i bet he thinks he's got a cool name when he grows up. well comparing to Romeo and Broklyn, he definetly lucked out......

While seven is unusual , a reference to DB's playing number I understand, I like the name Harper for a girl. Some may call Harper a bandaid baby, others may say he is a cheater, she is too thin, a b!tch...whatever.... but I importantly they appear to be loving and caring parents. David is, she isnt. Where do you get your inside info?

I love Harper, think it's nice to be different. And the Seven really makes sense.....it was David's footie jersey number for years, Harper was also born in the 7th month, just after 7am and she weighed just over 7lbs. edited by Stazzer on 12/07/2011

Maybe they are more literary than they appear and named her after the author of 'To Kill a Mockingbird', Harper Lee. edited by Lakshmi on 12/07/2011

Maybe she's a fan of Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place. Harper is a character. I don't mind it. Apparently the boys are :) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2013725/Beckham-baby-named-Harper-character-magical-Disney-show.html

I wonder if it was because she was born at Har-past seven That's my understanding!! Bit daft if you ask me, but each to their own & good for them on adding a girl to their bunch.

i honestly was going to name my daughter seven, because of its meaning in numerology, i swear, i was so close until i came up with a very special middle name that just didn't go with seven at all... seven lou it doesn't fit well, also i had a friend whose name was severen (that name is also in a velvet under ground song called venus in furs, and gosh i love that song), and her nick name was sevy i always loved it, after i had my daughter i decided ok ok if i have another i will name her seven, now, i dont know if thats possible... ps the seinfield episode is fantastic, but thats not where i got the name from lol...

apparently if you believe in numerology "seven" is the perfect number being "complete" or something along those lines. It probably ties in with the notion that now that they have their little girl, she completes their family. I think it's more to do with David's shirt number being 7 for England and for the majority of his career at Man U.

I think that it could have been a million billion gazillion times worse than it is. The would never please everybody and so yet again they've chosen to please themselves as is their right. Can't wait to see the pictures of the wee one. Really decent birth weight considering the size of VB. She could find herself weighing more than her mum by the time she's 5! :D Congratulations I say ;)

Harper is a really old English name - means harp player :) Seven is just daft thou. (although not as daft as Broklyn or Cruz)
