I have to say the only time I tried to take books in to sell at HoP was a complete waste of time - they offered me so little that I donated them to charity instead. They don't really look at the book - just the publishing date - that's where you get the money.

Perhaps Gaijind works for HOP? Just a thought, as this thread is 2 years old. ;-) ^^, no I don't work there. I saw the shop yesterday for the first time and I liked the idea. (Never seen one in Dubai before). Plus the books I've checked weren't expensive. And the idea of having half the price back when you return it is also cool. I just found it different from stuff I see here in Dubai :). I thought of writing about it then discovered this old thread so I decided to talk about it in the same thread instead of creating a new one, why clutter ^^. That's all. The one I saw is in Jumeirah Plaza, I didn't even know it was a chain and never heard either about the ones in Ibn Battuta or Garden Center. It's good to have options :)

Just saw them last night in Dubai Garden Centre, I would agree they are expensive for secondhand books. Then everything in Dubai Garden Centre is expensive. :(

The one at Ibn Batuta has closed down. They have relocated to Dubai Garden Centre on S.Z. Road.
