By some miracle we just heard from the shipping company in dubai that the movers paid them their share atleast a few hrs ago. the BOL has been released. I am hoping we will hear soon that they paid the Canadian movers too... but if not then atleast it wont be as huge an amount as before. We shoud have our stuff either Friday or monday inshAllah. Thank you all for your support. I will post the details of how and what happened.. because due to time difference we werent able to get all the details as to what happened at the dubai end.

HI There, this happened to me once form USA to France. It was such a long time ago, but I was advised to go to a Government department for marine/shipping....sorry cannot remember the name. They were on to it in a flash! They tracked down the company and sorted it out for us. So, why don't you try the marine/shipping authorities from the origin to see how they can help...

How will icontact them from here in CAnada? We talked to someone else who has been a victim and they did go tothe police and the police trakced down the guy but apparently couldnt get into the apartment because it was a residential building (?) i dont know the details but i do kow they are filing a law suit against them and we will give them out info so that they can build a stronger case. AT that time the guy and company could still be reached.. but now they are completely closed and noone can contact them. So not sure that if i docontact the police they would be able to do much.

Di@Dxb, thank you for the info. The facebook page is also no longer working :( We just found out that they didnt even pay the shipping company in UAE either. So we have to pay the entire amount AGAIN!. In other words the guy ate up all our money and didnt pay anyone at all!! We moved because my husband lost his job and he has yet to find one here. How can people do such things? I did soo much research and consulted so many people.. but this could ve been done by anyone i guess.. MY advice to you guys is.. do it on your own. It may cost you the same but atleast you wont have to pay double. Or go for the option for paying upon delivery if there is one. Can I still email Nigel for help? I dont think there is much anyone can do sicne the company cannot be contacted. but if there is anyway i can reduce costs then any advice is helpful. I am going to write my story once my stuff is here... and send it to gulf news.

Bornconfused... we made sure everything was written in detail and signed for but its all of no use since appaently the company's website is not working and i think they dont exist anymore. :( and even the agent in Montreal said that these guys have been causing problem . We cant contact the movers in dubai yet. We will try tomorrow morning and see how it goes. Good luck. I'm sure it's frustrating as can be. Never heard of the company you used so no real comment on them. We used Allied Pickfords for our move and minus the cargo container going to Norway first, everything went well..

Sorry your going through this OP. This situation is one of many nightmares people seem to encounter when shipping items anywhere in the World. No advice but just wanted to wish you good luck. Minus the extra cost, at least your stuff arrived in Canada and wasn't stolen all the way around. Hope you get it sorted.

I totally feel for your situation, I had a similar experience with another firm here, after having paid for door to door the handling agent at the other end said they had not been paid to deliver it to us at all nor paid for port costs and storage. They held my shipment to ransom for a month incurring daily charges, until I was able to get someone in Dubai to sort it out at this end. Truly understand the nightmare you are going through and do hope you get this resolved, I think you need to file a complaint against them in Dubai, have you tried any legal action here yet? <em>edited by Di@DXB on 30/07/2011</em>

I just reviewed the rules and you are right that maybe the reason. I think I will blog about my experience.. because I do want people to know the name and number of that person so that he cannot do this to anyone else. I guess I will blog about these guys... Just in case if anyone is wondering.. The company is called *** moving. Apparently their website is also now cloased.. They did not pay the other company in Ottawa who is supposed to deliver us our cargo. And also did not send them the bill of lading. SO we have to pay up another $3000 to get our stuff. And also go through the hassle of trying to acquire the original bill of lading.

At a guess I would say it was deletd because you included the name and mobile number of the person involved. It is most useful for us to know about dishonest companies, perhaps try another post with only the initials of the company and the details of what happened to your shipment.
