Am so frustrated with our current bank. Am deciding between Barclays and HSBC.
Can anyone give me some honest feedback abt their banking services? Especially, their customer service!
I always find that banks are very friendly and helpful up till the moment you sign with them and the account is open. Then you will never hear from any sales person or relationship manager. You end up dealing with automated voice mails and customer service agents who do not have the permission to to anything but say I am sorry!!!!!

Sorry for the rant.....but really need some advise/personal feedback.

TK u!

How about Lloyds TSB? We have recently switched from StanChart to them and the service to date has been faultless? The girl who set up all our accounts was english and our relationship manager is also english, it makes the process much simpler. We set up local current/savings accounts, offshore accounts and a rent loan all within our first appt. It did take 1.5 hours of form filling etc but now its done and no running back and forth. If you want the name of the girl who advised us and set up our accounts, even just for a chat, let me know and I will send you an email.

I am with HSBC Premier in Dubai, the UK and Offshore. I like doing everything online rather than having to use customer service. That said, I had to deal once with customer service in Deira branch to withdraw a large amount of cash and found customer service was good.

Not thinking of offshore - but for "local" use, i.e. the main bank we will use while in dubai - credit cards, international transfers.....etc...... I would not use any bank for international transfers, the rate is a lot lower.

We switched from HSBC to Barclays - love Barclays, very good professional bank to deal with... no regrets changing over.

I banked with HSBC when I was in the UAE and did not have any problems. That said I only had a salary account and a credit card that was paid in full each month so never needed to utilise any aspect of the customer service other than to close the account when I left which was a smooth and uneventful process.

OK. I'm off to bed now....I'm with HSBC offshore, if you want to avoid the "faceless" customer services I'd stay away from HSBC. However, it's not sooo bad that I would go through the hassle of changing...it's a case of better the devil you know.

Presuming this is for an offshore account and not local?
