I have been looking for 3 weeks and have not found even one car that is worth my time to go and view. The majority of ads on dubizzle are either dodgy sounding dealers or even dodgier deals involving cars "in Cyprus". I have been asked to pay someone's airfare to fly back to show me his car. I have been asked to believe all sorts of rubbush about sisters / mothers / wives having driven the car and them never having gone off road. I have not spoken to anyone who is genuinely a first time owner of a low mileage car (and who wants to sell at a reasonable price) We are about to go buy a new car just because it is too difficult to find a second hand one.

Whinge over!

Speaking of used cars on dubizzle..how come there are that many 'unwanted gift' brand new cars for sale?? who gives someone a brand new car as a gift??? other than his wife ofcourse :)

I think most of the ads on Dubizzle have probably been from the used car market. Just had another call now from someone returning my call about a car. "No madam I am not a dealer". but then "Which car were you interested in?"

very simple Prado/LC and some other cars have a good reputation so their resale values are high. They are so high that it doesnt make sense to buy them 2nd hand in most cases, so its a self defeating reputation In extreme cases, sellers think people will be desperate enough to pay airfare to see a car! It always peeves me, you buy a new car for 100k, and some people wobble their heads and say u could have bought the same car for only 70k (but 70000 km on the clock!). In the UAE, in most cases ,it makes sense to buy a new car unless you get a pretty old 2nd hand .

Why don't you go out to quartermile, that used car place? They have heaps of cars, sooo much easier than trolling dubizzle!

DH was the same, although different car. He looked at a few. The nice ones were close to new price and the more reasonable ones have had the cr@p kicked out of them. He decided that for his own peace of mind to go and buy a new one and know exactly what he's getting. I'm a lady-first-owner of a Prado. It has been off-road though :D
