Agree that a cold compress/ ice pack will help along with allergy tablets, tea tree oil or tiger balm, then get to the GP tomorrow if no better. Good luck.

Nscm7859 What you are describing is what I was left with after a black ant (they are big) bit me. The itching was horrendous, skin was hot and the redness spread all over my lower arm. Again on my leg with the same result. Another bite was on my knuckle and my hand was very swollen and painful from that one. I have never had a reaction as I did to these bites and still have the marks, but the other symptoms did eventually clear up after about a week. The pharmacist recommended Fenistil and antihistimine tablets. I also used an ice pack to try and sooth them and this did help a little.

if i get bitten more than once i usually have to take an antihistamine tablet rather than use the cream - u can buy fenistil tablets at the pharmacy

Do you have any meat tenderizer? My son reacts terribly to bug bites and the only thing that works for him is to make a paste of meat tenderizer and water and apply some to the bite with a band aid on top.

I'd be getting it checked by a doctor if I were you, especially if it's spreading. If it was infected the Fucicort should help but if that's not doing anything, and neither is the antihistamine, it'd be safer to get a medical professional to look at it. Something flew up the leg of my shorts two days ago and stung me, and it's only just started to go red, swell and itch. What was it that bit you? edited by DubaiCat on 15/10/2011

go to the Dr - sounds like it's infected.
