Sorry MorningCat - it had slipped my mind.
I just went and had a word with our PRO's and after much discussion they can't think of any reason why that person can not rent in their own name! I also just remembered that one of our (female) directors husband's (who she sponsors) rented a studio back in the summer, and I did not have any hassle doing the paperwork with DEWA etc.

gentle BUMP for Cornish Pixie... have you had time to check with the PRO? I do appreciate everyone's replies but would feel more assured having someone in the industry weigh in on this. Thank you.
Hi mc and CP x
It is possible - if you are on your Dh 's sponsor you may need to obtain an NOC from your husband to obtain the TC - some ll's will go ahead without it some won't but it's better to be on the safe side - it also depends on the company or ll in their religion . Quite a few Muslim ll's won't accept a single woman on a tenancy . I personally had this difficulty with my current tenancy agreement but got around it eventually
thanks, Hejude. Do you mind me asking when that was? Just on the chance that rules may have changed.
MorningCat a friend of mine has just done this as well and it was in July, don't think the rules have changed since then.
I'm the same as StarSouthern. Our lease/Dewa at Shorooq was in my name as my husband wasn't around when we took the place.
Wasn't deliberate, but that's what ended up happening.
:)
Sorry I'm not CP but I'm sponsored by my hubby and our villa and DEWA are in my name as hubby's passport wasn't available. No NOC from hubby was needed either.
I can not be 100% certain but I will ask at our PRO's at work on Wednesday, it might be possible but with an NOC from your sponsor (ie husband). I will get back to you after Eid, sorry not to be more decisive but I would hate to give you the wrong information.
Hi CP, do you know if it is possible for someone who has UAE residency but is on a dependent visa (e.g. sponsored by spouse) to rent a place in their name? TIA
