Yes DC is right - Babysteps can get the local birth cert in Arabic and English, but the British birth cert must be obtained from the consulate. I just collected my ds's one today. Here is some useful info: http://ukinuae.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/living-in-uae/how-to-register-birth It all went smoothly. It's just a bit expensive - AED1050! Hth x

Just a wee note - the birth certificate you get from Al Baraha isn't a British one, it's a local one. You get an Arabic version and an English version. If you want a British one you'll have to apply for it at the British consulate. I wish I could tell you how to do it but I still haven't got my backside in gear to get them for my two! Must get onto that....

Hello Hope someone can help? I gave birth to my daughter here at City Hospital and was given the birth notification papers. I understand that I need to get my daughter's birth certificate from Al Bahara Hospital. I went there yesterday and realised that I can only do this during the week days!! I was wondering if anyone has the details of the company that can do all this for me? I don't really want to go to Al Bahra Hospital again. TIA
