Entertainer voucher - Els Club...whats the point?

Just wondering what's the point to have the Els Club round of golf vouchers in the Entertainer book...The UAE resident rate for 18th holes is 395 aed p.p. but when you want to use the voucher they won't allow you to book on this rate, you have to pay the 795 aed rack rate!!!! Sooooo...if I book two players on the UAE residents rate, I'm still better off than using the voucher...

Is it just me or is Els Club just trying to get a cheap advertisement with the Entertainer? Do you think it's worth it to contact Entertainer and explain? It seems to me that Els Club is just trying to make potential customers happy with something that's worth nothing...

I believe they say in the books that they cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer - I would always expect the voucher to apply only to the rack rate and I haven't ever pushed the issue with the Entertainer or any of the businesses.

I know it cerrtainly doesn't make sense as we tried to do it at Montgomerie too. However, if you are able to bear the heat in the summer months then it is worth doing. Shame Emirates Golf Course have stopped the Par 3 vouchers. Personally I think this year's Entertainer vouchers aren't as good as last year's.

I think i can answer this as DH & I had the same issue with the Montgomerie. The voucher can only be used on the rack rate or visitor rate, therefore if they have a twilight or residents promo you can use one or the other. To be fair its the same with any voucher or offer so i dont think Els or the Entertainer are being cheeky. Not played the Els yet is it worth a visit? Can't wait for next weekend and the Desert Classic!

Chizz, Thanks for your advice...I'm going to contact the Entertainer now and will post back when I hear something from them. Would you happen to have an email for James? or is it better to just use their general email address?

I would contact James Gosling - he has always been helpful to me when I've had issues with The Entertainer. They usually contact the place and have a word with them and remind them of their responsibilities and then get back to you (although I've had instances of the place telling me one story and The Entertainer another story about validity of vouchers - some places really try it on!). You are right, that there's no point this place being in the book, if it's cheaper/the same price NOT to use a voucher - seems like the Els Club should be charging the Resident rate with the voucher... edited by chizz on 31/01/2012
