Is anyone familiar with options to ship things to the US?

We have to move in a couple of months and are not taking any furniture or large items, but have art, rugs, books and personal items that are more than excess baggage will allow. The extra amount we are trying to ship would probably fit in about 8 large suitcase.

We tried using Air Cargo (Delta) and they told us they are no longer allowed to ship personal items TO the US, they can only carry new items with invoices from one company to another. I'm assuming this would be an across-the-board rule with other airlines air cargo.

So.... does anyone know any other options? Do fedex/aramex/ups do this?

TIA

TIA We had to go through this problem in December, when we were shipping a couple of coffee tables for a friend ( a gift, so wanted cheap freight) to the US. Went to Cargo Village, did the rounds of the airlines and agents, and other than Emirates, nobody ships personal items anymore. Emirates Sky cargo does provide the service, however their rates were very high and they would carry only to the airports they fly into. Local partners would then be responsible for delivery. Emirates SkyCargo (UAE Sales) Dubai Cargo Village Cargo Mega Terminal P.O. Box: 686, Dubai United Arab Emirates Tel.: +971 4 2184218 Fax +971 4 2834266 Email: [email protected] If time is not a problem for you, we went through a sea freight company called CSS Llc. They do consolidated shipping. They were way cheaper than air freight. Our contact was Shatus Satheesan - 050 5599573. A bit bureaucratic but not too bad. We managed to finish paperwork and delivery of goods in 2 days ( we took the tables to them as that saved us about $100 ). It cost us, including documentation and other charges, 936 dhs for 0.5 cbm. I am not sure if you know anyone affiliated w/ a local airline but if you do... and you feel comfortable asking, they receive a very nice discount with fedex. I shipped 19 LARGE boxes from the states (2day priority) and it was about $1500. Otherwise I believe Emirates has a cargo division, you may want to check that route.
