Will health insurance cover Colposcopy?
Hi, I recently had lletz treatment and a cone biopsy for severly abnormal cells and was told I need regular check-ups every 3-4mths. I went to the City Hospital and they said the smear was covered, but that the insurance company (ADNIC) would request a HPV test before they would consider covering the colposcopy. As I understand the test will prob show HPV in my case (due to the abnormal cells), and so the insurance will call it a sexually transmited disease and not want anything to do with it. So feeling under pressure, I had the HPV test and know that the results will hang me for any future check-ups or treatment.
I was under the impression that the colposcopy would be covered if it was a follow-up/check-up after treatment for abnormal cells???
The colpscopy will cost 4,000k without biopsies, and nearly 5,000k with biopsies, so quite a lot of money....
