I use generic detergent for front-loading machines, either Co-op or C4 brands. DH and DSs have eczema so Tide, Ariel, etc really irritate their skin, but the generics, (I use half of recommend amt) help. Also boost the detergent with Casino brand (Geant) oxy bleach powder.

i don't use powder any more - too cloggy lol. Ariel green for whites and purple for coloureds plus softener. For particularly heavy stains i use Stain Remover sachets and for whites i sometimes use a whitening sachet - forget the name of them but you just put them in the drum...

I use the big boxes of Aerial - have the one for colours and the one for whites (original perfume). And I use Comfort as a fabric softener. I add in the sachets of whitening every so often for the white wash. I've always used these as that's what my mum uses and I've never liked the smell of anything else!

Don't use powder - always use the liquid. Ariel green + vanish for whites, Ariel Colour for colours and the one for black clothes for black / dark colours.

I always use Ariel and add some Vanish powder for the white wash and have never had a problem to date. Also use comfort to give it that nice fresh smell and to keep things soft.
