Hi Ladies, just need a little bit of direction....

DD is now 6andhalf months old, i started the weaning process at 4 months and she has been a brilliant eater until about 2 weeks ago & its just gone downhill from there.
Today she is point blank refusing her food, and will only entertain eating if it is either milk or finger food.

What do I do from here? Allow the baby-led weaning process to begin? She does love her finger food but she is terrible for gagging! Could it be because of her teething she has gone off food or my cooking is rubbish and she simply just does not like it......????

Little help please

Could be teeth for sure. However some babies just don't like being spoon fed. My DD ate pureed/soft foods from a spoon for a couple of weeks when she started solids and then just started refusing them. She only eats things herself (either scooping with her hands or things she can hold), even if it's exactly the same food as that being offered by spoon. edited by kpea on 25/05/2012

Quite possible her first teeth are cutting and she would rather have milk. Just to point out that the crux of blw is to let your child discover food slowly and at their own pace, being very relaxed about how much or how little they eat. It is not about switching to finger food in an effort to get them to eat more. You might find adapting a blw mindset, regardless of the texture of the food, makes weaning more enjoyable for both of you.
