my baby has cold from past 2 months....infact little since he was born as i had severe cold in the last trimester of my pregnancy which developed into infection and took 2 months to go away after delievery. now i have cold again and my baby's cold has increased too. he has runny nose since yesterday. i have no clue what should i give him. whenever i take him to the doc he says let him be.he does not have chest congestion so he does not give any meds. i know cold meds are not effective but 4 month old with runny nose! he is bothered by that as last night he was irritated and kept on waking up by rubbing his nose. i have humidifier in the home.
what do you do if baby has cold? or time to change doc again? i am tired of finding doctors here. he is already on his 3 doctor (ds is 4 month old)

babies actually are often a bit snuffly as newborns, but not usually with runny nose. For yourself, you might have allergies too, so the purifier might help you both. I have one running in my two year olds room and am about to get another one for when my baby is born a few weeks to put in my room (where she will be sleeping). What you can do for yoruslef is try using a neti-pot/sinus rinse. Not sure if you can buy them locally, I bring from home but htey are great for any kind of congestion. You buy the squirty thing and sachets of saline mix, then basically squirt up your nose and it runs out the outehr nostril, sounds disgusting but afterwards you can blow your nose and EVERYTHING comes out, you feel really clear. [b'>NB This is only for adults, you can't use these for babies.[/b'> i know about those and do it occasionally . i learnt that while in India for a whole month. its really very disgusting to learn in a class full of people :D

thanks this is really helpful. i have heard so much about Dr Khan but he is so far from my home and i wanted to have a doc which is accessible easily either through taxi or preferably metro. as for the purifier i have that at home. but i am suspecting alergy. he does not have congestion....runny nose and noisy breathing. normally also, even when he didn't had runny nose, he used to have noisy breathing. i am worried since he was 1 week old. but whoever doc i went to says he is fine, let the cold go away on its own. i wouldn't mind using alternative therapies. i'll start giving him sinus massage. is his cold there because of me? however i take precautions, washing hands often, using sanitiser always still i can transfer some virus....if i use masks he starts shouting.and its not possible to use mask 15 hrs a day!!! i am trying yoga for sinus but it takes some time to go away.

a cold (virus) doesn't last two months, if your LO is snuffly all the time it could be allergies. Wash the sheets in very hot water and a fragrance free non bio laundry liquid (the Carrefour own brand is good and also cheap) and vacuum out the room thouroughly . If you are breastfeeding consider eliminating dairy in your diet and formula top ups. You could also invest in an air purifier (the kind that filters dust out with a hepa filter not the kind that diffuse fragrance into the air) Cold/cough meds can be dangerous for babies and you wouldn't normally give meds for just a cold, if the congestion is bad and your baby is having trouble drinking then you can use saline drops(or a few drops of breastmilk, but NOT formula) and a suction kit to help clear the nose. This does slightly increase the risk of an ear infection though so make sure to keep your baby upright for at least 20 minutes afterwards. The other thing you can do is give a sinus massage, which temporarily clears the nose, do it right before a feed.

Sorry to hear LO isnt feeling well :( I would recommend changing docs, even if he cant cure the cold he could advise something to relieve the symptoms. I recommend Dr Khan at Cooper Clinic, he's very calm and explains things well, and he gives you his cell # so you can call/text him when needed. DD had a slight blocked nose at a couple of weeks old so at night her breathing was heavy, he recommended Ocean Spray to clear her nose and help her breathe/sleep better, perhaps you could try it? Hope your LO feels better!
