There we were DH and I staying up late to watch the thrilling episode after Ronnie walks up to Kat and Alfie in the pub and hands over the kidnapped Tommy (Weds episode)......but as we watched the clock strike 11.15pm last night, we were mortified to see that there was no usual Eastenders!!! Instead we had some 1980's Fools and Horses episode....WTF! Where was that episode and does anyone know if Orbit changed the show schedule?
I also find that when I record a film from Orbit, it never records the last 10mins...the crucial bit. Jackie Brown, and Minority report were the two that stopped recording as we got to the crucial bit........Pbbbbtt!!!

Don't bother with a Slingbox, we bought ourselves a Mac Mini and connected that to our TV. As long as you've got a VPN, you can access all the iplayers and watch the live streaming from all the UK channels through their websites. Kids are able to watch CBeebies etc.... Plus we have the option to download programmes directly to our MAC to watch at our leisure. Much less complicated and cheaper than a Slingbox. do you get all the disney channels, comedy central, cartoon network, boomerang etc and discovery..and the "watch again" ? we are still paying for our cable package anyway so that we have TV when we go home, so it only cost us the price of the slingbox.. edited by Sue62 on 13/02/2011

Thanks ladies :) Sue 62 - Have heard about this Slingbox. Would you recommend it? Does it work well or is the viewing interrupted because of the signal etc? Also, is there a way to route it to your TV or only your Laptop/PC? I was never a Emmerdale/Corrie fan back in the UK but here, I watch/record it religiously (more because it reminds me of "home" more than anything me thinks)...anyone the same?! works well for us - very occasionally freezes for a milisecond but most of the time it's fine. You can watch it wherever you load the software so we have a computer connected to the TV and have also downloaded it onto our desktop though obviously you can only watch it in one place at a time.. worth it to us to be able to watch tv (including soaps lol) live and the channels that you don't get on the packages here..

don't watch Eastenders here through local TV, we watch via the BBC iplayer. Dipkia - How are you able to watch on iplayer? Have tried and it says "not available in your area"?? Yellowflower, I do not have iplayer although I would love to get it installed. I was trying to watch it off Orbit Showtime box, on the BBC Entertainment channel. It usually shows at 10.15pm Mon-Thurs, but as we are now 4 hrs ahead over winter , we have it showing 11.15pm. That's why we have to record it each night over winter, and then watch it next day. A real pain , but better than nothing. :)

Eastenders here must be several weeks ahead here than in the UK which I find very unusual as the episode when Ronnie hands the baby back to Kat and Alfie is not due to happen until around Easter? I watched the episode from BBC1 last night and it was the one where Kat and Alfie separate. well thanks for the major spoiler there Zannie :( in fact the EE being watched locally is 3/4 weeks behind the UK - the episode that was cancelled sounds like the one following the one that aired on 11 th January where Ronnie gave the baby to Kat on the day of "Tommy's" funeral... i wasn't going to mention it in my earlier post but now that you have - this is not the conclusion to this storyline...i understood the producers were set to keep it going for some months to come.... Apologies ladies, this must have been the one I watched last night as went to watch it tonight and Green Green Grass is on in place of EE.

I think if you watch EE you are used to this - they pretend all the time that something is going to "break" and it never does.....I think we all knew that it is going to be presented as a woman "in grief" blah blah.... edited by spongemonkey on 11/02/2011

can you not check on the bbc website ? says this: Due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to show tonight’s premiere episode of EastEnders (ep 15). We are sorry for any inconvenience. More information about when you can see this episode will be available via our online schedules tomorrow. just saw this about Eastenders BBC Entertainment viewers may be aware that there were a number of complaints made to the BBC in the UK in regards to the recent storyline in EastEnders about the death of Ronnie Branning's baby and her subsequent actions. Some viewers found that the storyline was distressing. We at BBC Entertainment have considered this situation carefully and have taken the decision to proceed with airing the full episodes from 27 January allowing our viewers the opportunity to draw their own conclusions. However we do feel that it is important to highlight the reasons why the programme makers stand by this storyline and what the BBC are trying to achieve. What follows is the official BBC response to UK viewer complaints: “We appreciate this is a particularly emotive storyline and as with all such sensitive subject matters, we approached it with great care and attention, seeking guidance and advice from a number of experts in this field in order to ensure as realistic a portrayal as possible. EastEnders has a long history of exploring difficult issues, and the storyline regarding Ronnie and Kat follows in this tradition. We acknowledge that for some members of the audience this storyline will have particular resonance and significance, however we can assure viewers that it's not our intention to cause distress or upset, and we have ensured that key episodes are supported by the BBC Action Line in order for those affected by the storyline to be able to obtain information regarding sources of further help and advice. It's important to note there is absolutely no inference that Ronnie's actions are in any way typical of a bereaved mother of a newborn baby. In her grief and desperation at the discovery that her much longed for baby has passed away, and finding herself in the exceptional circumstance of being alone with her neighbour's newborn son, Ronnie acted on impulse in the heat of the moment, without really knowing what she was doing, or considering the consequences or repercussions. On a wider sense, we were careful to select Ronnie, who we felt was the only character capable of acting in this way in a believable manner, following all the difficulties she's experienced in her life and the emotional toll this has put on her. Over the coming weeks, we will see Ronnie and Kat each coming to terms with the loss of their babies, and explore how they re-build their lives in the wake of such tragedy. Viewers will see the situation resolve itself over the coming months. We have been careful to signal the nature of the content of the episodes to the audience in advance online, through programme billings and with on-air announcements” Is this for Showtime here or in general?

Yes I was waiting to see this - I recorded it and there is an announcement before saying that there is a change to the advertised programme. Thought I had set it to record the 2 that were on this afternnon but there is nothing there - maybe I was hallucinating that I did this...so am hoping to see what there is on the Omnibus at the weekend. Did the same thing happen on today's repeat????? Zannie, I think this programme is not actually at that final event yet!

ohhhhh thanks for that... reading the website there have been loads of comments from ppl saying they won't watch it anymore..EE appears to have been losing viewers by the shed load over this.. the episode in question, without giving too much away was a bit of an anti-climax imo.. and initially i believe the producers were going to keep the story going for a long time - as much as a year... according to the episode list on the website the last one you saw was 11 th jan.. don't recall any episodes being withdrawn in the UK tho... edited by Sue62 on 11/02/2011 edited by Sue62 on 11/02/2011

It was taken off by BBC Entertainment, the announcement said, Due to unforseen circumstances the programme can not be aired, please check the website today to see when it will be aired. Of course, the website hasn't been updated and it still shows as scheduled repeats today, but they haven't been on....
