Now if they only were to show this on all incoming flights there would be a lot less 'mishaps'.

Informative and amusing too :)

Oh Mumsie, don't go to China then, it is full of spitting and restaurants to even have spittoons placed around the rooms for that specific purpose. I was shocked the first time I travelled there! I could eat anything because of it. Unfortunately, I sadly became accustomed to it on subsequent visits.

Now if they only were to show this on all incoming flights [b'>there would be a lot less 'mishaps'.[/b'> http://video.news.com.au/2281511855/Dubai---the-rules Informative and amusing too :) you really think so ?? You think that the types of people who behave this way would take any notice of a video ? How many people take their belts off and start emptying overhead lockers the millisecond the plane touches down, even after being told not to....how many people even pay attention to the safety video/instructions ?? entertaining little video but in my opinion there will be plenty who won't take any notice.... Also, in the list of arrestable offences they mention spitting..... really ?? spitting's illegal here ??? I don't think I said it was going to prevent blatant ruler breakers from doing what they are intent to do anyway so why all the double ?? I said it might prevent "mishaps" Its just an piece of useful info put in a way that's easy to watch, surprised something like this seems to have upset you. I really cannot answer you question on the statistics of how many people might take heed of such information, who knows, but it could well be useful for those who are unaware and who may accidentally fall foul of the rules at least. I am not the maker of this video so if they got the bit about spitting wrong maybe you should take that up with the producers. edited by Di@DXB on 28/03/2013 no i'm not "upset" and no they didn't get it wrong.... I guess sarcasm isn't understood here........ The repeated use of question marks in one paragraph in sets of two and three - 10 in all does give the impression that you totally disagree with what you are quoting. Usually when posters intend sarcasm they put a grin after their post. But I see from your other post that you use muliple exclamation marks as well so obviously you either have a sticky keyboard or its your personal writing 'style' :D edited by Di@DXB on 28/03/2013

Yes spitting is illegal When you have had a lovely DHL driver hawk one up and spit at your feet you may understand why. Use a tissue or a hankerchief it is disgusting It was a rhetorical question based on the number of times in a day I see men do it...even opening their van door to do it on the road whilst waiting at lights !! lol

I agree with Pikachu. If you haven't considered those things by the time you are in-flight, then you probably couldn't care less. Or possibly be completely unaware. Considering all of the UAE residents who act/dress "unaware", I'm inclined to think it's not a matter of being innocently unaware. It's a matter of not caring and knowing they can get away with it. This video aims at informing incoming tourists not UAE residents.

Maybe if there were more of these inflight videos and info handed out at airport and hotels, we wouldnt have the eye popping displays at the malls quite so much. I think it is a good move. Even my elderly visitors (lol, in their 50s and 60s) dont realise all the little courtesies till they get here. Its not just the skimpy shorts wearers and drunks that need to be told.

I do hope QANTAS does show it all their incoming flights. It will certainly save a lot of people a lot of embarrassment, discomfort, and stress.
