When my baby was around 6 weeks old and my in laws were staying with us for 3 weeks I had supply issues.. For me it was a really stressful period, cause they kept saying that baby was crying cause of hunger and according to them her weekly weight gain was not enough...
I went to see Dr Delphine and she prescribed me motilium. I'm not sure if it was the medicine or the lack of stress which helped my supply, but after a few weeks I stopped gradually and ever since (my DD is nearly 13 months) I have had no supply problems.
I can highly recommend to see her and she will help you for sure.
For my first baby i went through the exact same phase. Met dr delphine who asked to check kelly mum website and i took fenugreek thereafter. Supply went up big time
Once I started on Fenugreek we got the problem of him choking on my milk spraying into his throat because I had to much milk, ugh... always something isnt it...
My baby pulled off last week when I was feeding him and my friend sitting next to me got sprayed. Eeeeek!
Just tell her about the health benefits for her skin, the anti-aging components and anti oxidant cell renewal capacities.

but i thought i'd visit my OBGYN first.. thats when she told me to take motilium...
OK, I take back what I said about doctors here not knowing about it :-)
I had a very big issue with breast feeding.. it was very stressful, my baby would not latch on at all.. she was 1.8 kgs at birth and i had flat nipples.. so everything i tried was unsuccessful.. i kept pumping then when i reached 2 months my supply just dropped... i went through depression thinking i have to gibe her formula.. but i thought i'd visit my OBGYN first.. thats when she told me to take motilium.. and it worked wonders (before taking motilium i took fenugreek and breastfeeding tea and nothing worked.) i had an over supply from motilium that i started freezing.. but at around 7 months i got a very bad case of mastitis..vomiting and fever and not eating anything.. that i had to pump and throw because i was too tired to pump so i hand expressed in the shower and threw everything.. it was horrible.. and then i stopped taking motillium and waited for my milk to dry out.. and it did.. motillium does work but not for every mother.. and i was very scared of taking it but i had to do what was best for my baby.. wish you the best..
I took Motilium (think this is what you mean, this is a brand name - the drug is domperidone). I did a lot of research before I started on it and I had tried herbal remedies etc with no success. My baby was unable to latch at all until he was around 6 weeks so I was just pumping to begin with and my supply started to drop. It is prescribed in Canada and I think some EU countries for low supply but not in others. I forget the website now but after scouring with Google I found a very useful blog where mothers discussed dosage etc. I can say that it is what kept my supply going for those first months, I usually took 3 tablets a day, on and off for about 2 months. After my son started to latch regularly, I reduced the dose down and eventually stopped it all together. He is still breastfeeding at almost 11 months. I would be surprised if doctors here would know about it or recommend it, I think this might be one where you have to weigh the pros and cons yourself. It is available at chemists without prescription as it is basically a travel sickness tablet.

Hi cherryblossom7
Haven't heard of motilion sorry but agree that a fennel tea with fenugreek really works-I make my own and one cup a day levels out my milk nicely which can keep up with my boy's demands.
I disagree that it's just down to latching on-but it's worth checking with dr....though my friend went to dr Delphine and she was prescribed the fenugreek and fennel by her too.
My milk supply was slow to start due to an emergency c-sect and had been erratic for 12wks til it settled after I used my 'home brew'! Mine still fluctuates a little but can be my hormones/very overtired/trying to keep up with growth spurts/worrying about low milk etc as my boy can get very hungry!
Try and stay positive and take it from someone that knows how you feel as have been in a similar position for 5months, it does come back as quickly as it goes and even if the tea has a placebo effect, so what? You get your pammies (Pamela anderson-lol!!) back:) all the best Hun
Before taking any drugs ( herbal or prescription) you need to figure out what is causing low supply ( or even if the supply really is low vs you being paranoid)
If you baby is latching properly and getting to your milk effectively, and you are not restricting access to specific times and durations then low supply is unlikely. If latching is not spot on or you are being restrictive you need to address this first in order for drugs to be effective in boosting supply.
There is a dr in Dubai ( dr delphine) who is also a lactation consultant. She may be your best bet should you need prescription drugs as she can sort any other issues too.

I do have to agree with what Kiwispiers said. There should be a valid reason for you to think about taking supplements. In my case, baby wasnt putting on weight and after 2 months he was still below birth weight. Once I started on Fenugreek we got the problem of him choking on my milk spraying into his throat because I had to much milk, ugh... always something isnt it...
Anyway, nice to know there is a doctor/lactation consultant in Dubai.
I've been taking Fenugreek tablets and nursing tea and they've made a huge difference. Was really struggling for supply before I started them. I got the Fenugreek tablets from a stall near Marks and Spencers in Festival City. They are Solgar brand which I really like. Nursing tea from the Organic Shop. Three tablets and three cups of tea a day, milkorama!

I took a supplement called Fenugreek and it helped wonders. My lactation consultant was Cecile de Scaly and she advised to take it in case my supply went down. I immediately felt the difference.
i dont know anything about Motilion, but I found Fennel tea (from the organic shop) really effective in boosting milk supply and quite quickly too. i have been having 2-3 cups per day.
Does anybody have any experiences of using motilion to increase milk supply.
I am also checking to see that this is something a Dr may recommend ??
TIA
