Sniffmonster - re strangulation, I don't let my LO wear her beads during naps or @ night. Some rather put it around their ankles then or leave them off completely. Re the beads breaking off, a lot of the necklaces including the one from Favourite Things have a knot in between each bead. So if the necklace breaks, you should only have one bead to grab and not them all. Hope this helps.

I really want to get one for my LO also but am worried about strangulation. Can the beads break off and then be swallowed? Is having something around their neck not a big risk?

I bought one from baby souk & we'r been using it for 10 months now. I love it. I was using it on his ankle when he we started using it, & now he's a big boy (14 months), I put it around his neck. It doesnt have sharp ends as it looks in the pic. This is the one we have http://babysouk.com/index.php?page=product_details&cid=14&sid=46&submenuheader=7&pid=306

Thanks Clair. Forever, thanks for that, I'm hoping it comes with directions with the necklace itself so Ivan see what the possibilities are. It does look quite pointy, I see why you took it off at night.

Favourite Things @ The Dubai Marina Mall has 2 left. I've reserved one but that still leaves one available to have a look at :)

It's more that I want to see how it is on him as I worry about putting something around his little neck. I've heard they're great and even help with the red cheeks but I don't want to drop 100 dh if I won't be comfortable having him wear it! I've used a teething necklace with DD1 back in SA but we used a different kind from the Amber one and it was the norm to have it shoulder to waist rather than around the neck and no strangulation hazard occurred but I would take it off at nigh as I hated the marks it left on her when she slept. Not sure if it's a requirement with the Amber to be around the neck but maybe you should consider the shoulder to waist option but I dont know if they make them long enough for that. HTH!

There is a small shop in Festival City called Koraba. They specialise in Amber jewellery. Not sure if they have the teething necklace but definitely worth a try. edited by Icedqueen on 14/01/2011

Why do you need to try it on prior to buying? My nephew had one while he was teething and my SIL adored it - was the only thing that helped... Are you worried about sizing?

Have you seen them anywhere besides BabySouk? I'd like to try one on before I buy. TIA.
