Has anyone attended a worthwhile parenting class here in Dubai? Especially one suitable for teens or those approaching that age.
Pre-teen hormones coming out and DD getting rude and now aggressive. Need to find a way of dealing with this properly before it escalates.
Or any other tips for dealing with this?

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. Cowboy, that's exactly what I've been doing over my summer in the UK: getting tips from good friends/family with slightly older kids or discussing with others facing the same issues. It helps to know you are not alone and certainly very encouraging to see delightful grown up children of parents who've been through the same. There is light at the end of the tunnel! I've done some reading about this age/stage online too, and think a couple of books on parenting this age group would be a great next step US. In terms of classes, I haven't looked for anything yet (we will see if the above is sufficient first) but did send DD to mindfulness for children at Lifeworks, which certainly had a calming effect. She really enjoyed it too.

Here is someone who seems to offer teen parenting courses in Dubai: http://www.sarahcapon.com/Course_Fee_Teens.html And you might give this organization a call as well, since they have parenting education: http://www.counsellingdubai.com/index.html If you can't find a workshop, the book "Positive Discipline for Teenagers"ight help you find a new approach - here's an excerpt from it: http://www.positivediscipline.com/articles/teenagers.html

Lighthouse Arabia holds parenting talks at their center. Information is on their website http://www.lighthousearabia.com They did few parenting talks before summer vacation (that's when I heard about them on radio). Check out the website may be something going on at the moment also.

I haven't heard of any teen parenting classes, mostly just breastfeeding groups. The best thing would be to find a friend with slightly older children, nothing beats the experience of other parents who have tried and tested different method a of dealing with teen issues today.
