Hi, does anyone know if you can drive a camper, insured for up to 10 people, with a normal UAE driver license? Or where can I find this info? I already called some companies who rent out campers, but they only have the smaller ones, for up to 6 people (which can be driven with normal license).

Thanks a ton!

I own a RV (class A motor home imported from USA) in Dubai. (It is for our private use.) RTA allows 9 people including driver. (Sleeping capacity (6) is as in comfortable space.) It is classified as heavy bus and needs type 6 driving license. [u'>RTA Vehicle Registration Card[/u'> will define what kind of driving license is required. Thanks Veekay53, that helps a lot. I didn’t see anything on the registration card about the license, but it did say something about 10 people. So I guess I can be sure it’s not allowed to drive it with normal car license. Shame :(

I would check the drivers license, not everyone can drive large vehicles on a standard license, Hatta Fort Hotel hire their camper out and it comes with driver, mind you not sure where the driver would sleep at night!!!!!! i didnt read it that she was meaning the uae, just using a uae driving licence. Here's me assuming again!!!!! lol Well to be honnest, I did mean UAE :D My license says I'm aloud to drive a "Car". But if I rent a camper (with 6 people insured), I can drive it with my normal UAE "Car" license - at least this is according to the rental company I spoke to yesterday.

we have done rvs in new zealand but the biggest that i could see was for 6 people. Thanks busybee2. Seems these bigger ones are not that common, probably because they can't be driven with normal license :S We'll have to find ourselves another solution :) yeh thats prob it, you can just use a normal driving licence, anything bigger and it would need to be a truck licence etc.
