As for my aunty’s daughter and since they come here without any money and we have to pay and entertain them, I will simply refuse to engage in any payment for swimming with dolphins!! I already had a talk now with my aunty who lives here and told her that I believe she should be grateful that we paid for visa + tickets for her and her mum and she should choose some activities that are not this much expensive.. It is not like they come with money to spend.. we have to pay for everything and yet they choose these expensive activities… well I don’t mind to pay if she wants to spend the whole day in Atlantis but I will simply not pay for swimming with dolphins. And you think that it is easy to talk to a 20years old Girl!!!! Last time they came, she was wearing a very short jeans.. I would call it panty!! And when I was shocked from what she was wearing, her and her mum thought that I have no idea about fashion!! I love them very much but I feel embarrassed enough to go out with them to the malls because of what they wear... and this time my aunty’s daughter is coming with her 2 friends.. I don’t want to think about they will be wearing!! But that’s another topic looool First, you should tell them that there is a budget for activites, so they need to pick and chose carefully. Stick to it. If they want to blow it on one or two things so be it. Or they can spread it out and do more. Second, as for dress: don't be shy telling them what is acceptable and what is not acceptable - it is Dubai, not home, and it has nothing to do with fashion!!! If they dress to go out with you inapproriately tell them that no one is going anywhere until they dress appropriately. They can take their itsy, bitsy clothes in a bag and change on the dhow. edited by Crystil on 19/04/2011

And Crystil thank you for letting me know that it is not a real swimming.. now I will tell her that definitely I will not pay 790 to pet the dolphins!! I have 2 beautiful cats at home, she can pet them as much as she wants!!

Wooow I just had a look at Musandam in Oman as you suggested and it looks perfect for a short break.. I guess I will plan with my fiancé to go for 2 days there sometime next month or in June.. As for my aunty’s daughter and since they come here without any money and we have to pay and entertain them, I will simply refuse to engage in any payment for swimming with dolphins!! Atlantis doesn't really do a "swimming" with the dolphins. It's more a "petting" experience. If you want to get in the water with them then Mussandam would probably be closer to what they are looking for.

Like Chocs01, I much prefer nature / natural surroundings... A few summers ago I swam with the Mussandam dolphines, dipped into the waters from the dhow... An experience of a lifetime! Absolutely breathtaking...

LOL 20 years old, yet you make them sound like small children. Oh well, I can but try to educate people in these things and only hope that it gets through to some. Maybe you should sit them down and let them watch 'The Cove' - then have a rethink.

Chocs01, I watch Animal Planet all evenings and believe me, I love any kind of animals and feel sorry for them if they are kept in cages. Now I dont know how these beautiful dolphins ended up here and how they were caught from the wild and I prefer not to imagine that but trying to explain that to the 3 girls aged 20 years old who are coming to Dubai with the aim that it is possible to swim with dolphins will lead to no where!! I already suggested to my aunty that they just go spend the day in Atlantis but she insisted that the Girl is begging that "Her dream is to swim with the dolphins".. Whether I say yes or no, animal rights, etc... knowing them, at the end they will only make fun of me! I am not going with them, we will just drop the girls off to spend the day there then I will take my 2 aunties to the mall, shopping, and maybe have a fresh juice in the garden while the cats are playing in the garden :)

I'll give you an alternative option, how about you all go to the Musandam for the day, take a dhow cruise and see the dolphins in the wild! I refuse to advocate dolphins being held in captivity, and forced to perform parlour tricks for human entertainment. If you insist on going to one of these places, please keep in mind that many were slaughtered for your hours entertainment. None of those dolphins were reared in captivity, they've all been caught from the wild and ripped from their natural environment - mainly in the Solomon islands, where they are dragged from the water with chains wrapped around their tails, only to have their heads cut off with chainsaws! Still wanna go? edited by Chocs01 on 19/04/2011

Good morning! My aunty is coming from Lebanon with her daughter (20 years old) and her only wish is to swim with the Dolphins!! Her 2 friends are also coming to visit so we have total of 3 GIRLS who want to swim with the dolphins and take pictures, etc.. I have checked with Atlantis and they take 790AED per person to swim for 1 hour with dolphins and can spend the rest of the day there to play and swim (but with dolphins for 1 hour only). I saw on the internet that there is a place called Dubai Dolphinarium and they charge AED1600 for 3 persons which is around AED533 per person.. I still have to call to check how long they can swim with dolphins and if there are allowed to spend the rest of the day there swimming.. Can you share your experiences with me please? Did you try any of them? Any recommendations? Other options?
