If my baby were to start making noise, I would leave the theater. That's too late. You have already interrupted a paying client who doesn't pay to hear that - even if it is just once. Sorry edited by spongemonkey on 19/01/2011

all of you guys are great, when your child causes a disturbance you take action. However there are those who want to see the film, feel they've paid their entance fee whatever. and stay. ,You pick up your child and remove yourselves from the theatre THANK YOU. But there others who dont - how do we deal with those inconsiderate boors?

I've taken my son to the cinema many times for lack of a babysitter or whatever reason. I know the general temperament of my son and that is patient and quiet, a real boon, so I've never worried about him causing noise. Though, of course, if he had, I would've taken him out immediately, film be damned. :P

"Dolby Deafening!" hahahah love it! I wouldn't even consider taking a baby to the cinema. Just me though. Recently took DS 1 to the cinema for the 1st time and he's 3.5 years old. He was fine and enjoyed the movie, but even HE said "my ears are tired from that movie" plus I'm with Hello.Kitty about the content and what babies and small kids can absorb.

My baby's crying is like angels singing so I doubt any of you would leave the theater if you heard it..lol..kidding.. I don't think I could enjoy myself at the movies as I'd be afraid the baby would wake up / cry / etc. unless it was a moms & babes screening. I will check those out. Gracias.

I think it's rude to take an infant to the movie. You can never predict how the child will act.

There are specific M&B cinema showings, where they have the sound a bit lower and the lights on dim. Dolby Deafening is way too loud imo during a normal sitting and yes, you have to consider other cinema goers (even if they chat, eat noisily and use their mobiles. :( ) Also, it's worth considering that your LO, even when they're babies, do absorb what they see, even if you don't think they're watching. I have experienced the aftermath first hand with 4 months of nightmares following DD catching scenes from District 9 on the plane.

Check with Dubai Mall. We took the kids to see a movie and on our way out there were a whole bunch of strollers outside one of the theatres. I couldn't figure out why at the time but now it would make sense that they were having a Mother and Baby Screening.

I was going to suggest looking for a Mothers and Babies screening, if they exist in Dubai. I know some of the UK ones are well thought out - age ranges, buggy parking areas, turning down the sound of a loud movie - and obviously lots of babies are potentially making noise, so no one minds.

I always took mine, but only chose movies that were at a time when he would nap (midday). My other DS was told should baby cry we would leave. we never had a problem or caused a disturbance .

In the summer Mirdif Mums were running a Mum's and Babies morning at the Cinestar at Mirdif City Center, don't know if it's still going but you could contact them through their website to find out.

while there are a few babies who sleep through or are quiet throughout - I pay to see the film. I don't pay to see/hear your struggle to quiet your child - and yet, we're both paying the same price

Never mind the affect on the baby, I think it's inappropriate to take small children to the cinema - it's an annoyance for other people. Sorry to be a party poop but I totally agree with Jules here ....... unless of course a gag can be fitted to said baby so as not to disturb others and blind fold & ear defenders to protect the baby from possible sensory overload

My babies sleep like a top right through :) Always have. It was one of the few outlets I had when my DH was away travelling and I was alone at home with a young baby.

I find them way too loud even for my old ears not sure how a baby would cope with that noise .. wonder if that is why they cry when they are there? although I am sure someone will come on and say that their baby sleeps like a top right through.. ;)

Personally, no. I think the noise and lights would be overstimulating and also, my DS at six months would never have sat still or been quiet so he would have been a total nuisance to everyone else :).

Do you think it's ok to take a 6 month old baby to a movie? (Not during hte busy time, a mid morning showing or something early in the day). Do you think the theater is too loud or sensory overload for a baby that age?
