I think it stands for International Air Transport Association but anyway I would email the hotel and ask for Airline Employee discount as opposed to just travel industry discount. Although not always required by hotels, travel agents can get what's called an IATAN card to show as ID and get a discount but yes, you would need to be a TA and have an IATA number to get one of those. Many hotels have separate discount rates for airline staff. I am guessing that your husband showing his employee ID card would be what the hotel would need to see on check-in for you to be able to qualify for airline staff rates. Otherwise, is there not a staff travel department that you can phone for clarification or an employee forum where you could ask? EK are an airline member of IATA and must therefore have some kind of IATA number.
That's because IATA numbers are for bone fide [b'> *travel agents* [/b'> - not wives of employees of airlines.

Nik, I would delete your post, especially if your user name is your actual name or sould be traceable, but as Sienna says, email the hotel, they may give you a discount just for asking, but seriously, delete your post now!
Thats because there isnt one....you have to email the whichever hotel directly and ask if they give a "industry rate" some do, some dont and sorry but New York in summer dont like your chances! But pays to ask, I guess, also I dont think we are suppose to "advertise" on forums that we get such discounts. Good luck and enjoy New York.
